Today's the day. My last on Beano. Sad to leave such a brilliant title. Having the honour of redesigning the comic in 2016 was a real highlight - but not as much as getting to work on it weekly with the best team ever. Elaine, Gary, Mark, Claire, Michelle & John - Thank You!

The Largs shop owner, and former Tory candidate, who berated Stephen Flynn after her shop was flooded spoke to BBC Scotland last year about drains being covered by tarmac. A work order to remove it was raised by Amey as a priority after the firm was contacted by BBC Scotland.
So, was the work carried out? The article also says staff now remove stock off the floor every night and place sandbags down in the hope it will prevent possible damage. Was this done prior to the storm?
Given the focus on Toni Dawson by the BBC and STV and the subsequent media attacks on Stephen Flynn, this story needs further examination.

The fiasco yesterday where a former Tory candidate was the star of every broadcast outlet as she berated Stephen Flynn was an example of how lazy and open to manipulation Scotland's broadcast media is.
The reporters wanted some drama and the shop owner knew it. Facts weren't important as evidenced by the moronic questioning from the STV reporter who effectively accused Flynn of covering drains with tarmac.
It's not bias per-se. The reporters, STV, BBC, SKY, Clyde, LBC et al likely had no idea the shop owner was a former Tory candidate. That said, even had they known they'd have said nothing lest their little melodrama clip be binned.
We can but hope they were embarrassed when seeing the image of the shop owner smiling as she was photographed standing in her shop with Russell Findlay later that same afternoon.

Last week a well known Labour supporting business man called @JohnSwinney a "dictator", today Tory business woman thinks @StephenFlynnSNP should act like King Canute & hold back the waves: xitter.cf/JohnnyDundee/status/21… The Brits in Scotland are becoming more hysterical by the day.
STV News reporter Vanessa Taafft should take full responsibility for not informing viewers that shop owner Toni Dawson's attempts to politicise Storm damage is down to her being an ex-Tory Party candidate for the area. Doing the Tories dirty work, Vanessa? xitter.cf/msm_monitor/status/211…

@STVNews have switched off their comments to this video, knowing fine well that this woman Toni Dawson is a Tory candidate and activist and allows her air time to politicise Storm Boelo and point the finger directly at the Scottish Government, no better than the BBC.

I thought it was odd that both BBC Reporting Scotland @BBCScotlandNews & @STVNews were focusing on this one person and the blame they were trying to put on the SNP Scottish Govt for Storm Boelo's damage to her sea-front shop. Turns out, as an ex-Tory Party candidate, not so odd.

Neil Mackay doesn't miss here ...
"It is astonishing that nobody is taking responsibility for this fiasco. Why has Hayley Valentine, BBC Scotland director, not been fired? Her annual salary at almost £200,000 - more than the First Minister - is safe.
"Valentine was once executive editor of Question Time - the BBC’s most debased programme, a symbol of all that’s wrong with the broadcaster. So you get an idea where her talents lie.
"The BBC Scotland channel has cost taxpayers around £200million since it was launched. Sometimes, it aired shows that literally nobody watched. Zero viewers. What a cosmic joke.
"There was never any real commitment to making the channel work, there was never any thought put into programming. No care, no love, no attention.
"BBC bosses were peasants in a palace. They had the chance to do something great, and blew it.
"No wonder many see it as an act of deliberate self-sabotage." 👇

@stvnews asking @StephenFlynnSNP why HE cemented over manholes outside a Tories shop in Largs has got to be the single fucking maddest BritNat “news” report I’ve ever watched 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Feel very sorry for this woman & how the storm affected her shop but her attack on Stephen Flynn was outrageous & almost irrational. Now we know why. Totally pathetic that the appalling Scottish media & this “journalist” forgot to mention this 👇🏻. They’re absolutely deplorable.

What an embarrassing afternoon for Reform UK.
Farage and Jenrick unveiled their economic plans to a half-empty hall in central London. Asked about the empty seats, Farage first blamed “staff incompetence”, then suggested the businessmen invited were simply too busy to attend.
How disgraceful to publicly humiliate your own staff rather than take responsibility.
An event meant to showcase Reform’s readiness for government instead showed how quickly Farage blames others when things go wrong.
You just know what sort of man he is to work with. If he’s this willing to blame his staff publicly, who knows what kind of behaviour is going on behind closed doors.
