The revealing admission in @mehdirhasanโ€™s post - which he completely misses, accidentally or not - is that rising anti-Israel hatred fuels rising attacks on Jewish school kids, because they are Jewish.

The BBC has agreed to pay ยฃ400,000 to an award-winning Jewish documentary-maker who alleged she was subjected to antisemitism and pushed out of the corporation after October 7. Lucie Kon, 57, spent 22 years at the BBC and worked on programmes including Panorama, Today, BBC Breakfast and Storyville. Films she commissioned or helped produce won an Oscar, Emmy and Bafta. Kon says her treatment changed dramatically after the Hamas attacks. She alleges colleagues described Zionists like her as โ€œevilโ€, argued that Israel should be called terrorist if Hamas was, and told her to consider what had driven Hamas to carry out the massacre. When she proposed a documentary about October 7, Kon says she was told she was โ€œtoo partialโ€ to oversee it because she was Jewish. She subsequently filed a formal grievance, but a BBC investigation rejected her complaint. Kon says she was then kept away from work for months. During a restructuring, her position was made redundant and she failed to secure the similar role replacing it. She launched unfair-dismissal proceedings. The BBC has now agreed substantial compensation, reported as ยฃ400,000, without admitting liability or accepting that Kon suffered antisemitism. Kon says Jewish employees still at the corporation continue to face hostility and feel unable to identify openly as Jewish or Zionist.

If your knee jerk response to a report saying children are being bullied for their religion/ethnicity is to try to find any means to discredit the report, you are part of the problem and not the good person you think you are.

Same here. My son hss experienced multiple hate crimes, has had to leave associations and clubs l, has to hide his kippah my wearing a hat on top, has to hide Judaica in his dorm, has to hide who is is at the doctor. I am SICKENED by the people not listening to this.
I personally have not gotten a chance to look at the anti-Semitism report but both my children have experienced clear and aggressive antisemitism in their school life, even more so when the war broke out. My daughter is afraid to tell people she's Jewish.

What Mehdi isn't telling you is this is what stable looks like.
Perhaps the most stark and revealing (accidental?) admission in the David Bell 'antisemitism in UK schools report. Antisemitic attitudes aren't increasing, only anti-Israel ones are. That's what most of this is about. From the horse's mouth: assets.publishing.service.goโ€ฆ

I gave a talk to a group of Jewish teenagers last year and when I asked if any had experienced antisemitism at school, almost every single one put their hand up. Most went to non-Jewish schools and the stories they told me were horrific, from assaults to racist bullying. Those trying to undermine the Bell report have clearly never spoken to Jewish children and actually Iโ€™m glad theyโ€™re nowhere near them.

First time back in Tel Aviv since this hall wasnโ€™t filled with images of hostages. Iโ€™m here to cover the election which has been billed as one of the most important in Israelโ€™s history. There was a moment when the plane landed (after everyone applauded which they always do) and we were on the coach to get to the terminal. An older Jewish Israeli lady stood up and gave her seat to an Arab Israeli lady who was carrying a baby in her arms - it was a reminder of how far the real Israel is from the visions of haters. On Tuesday nearly 2million Arabs in Israel will have a chance to vote in this election. They are the only Arabs in the Middle East who get to vote.

If you want to actually visit a museum dedicated to Iraqi Jews, check out the Babylonian Jewry Heritage Centre in Or Yehuda. This town in Israel became home to many of the Jews evicted from Iraq in 1950, including my parents-in-law: bjhcenglish.com/
Jewish Museum opened in Baghdad yesterday in a building that used to be a Jewish school. They had 1,000 visitors on the first day

Frightening
Myriam was a 7-year-old French Jewish girl. She witnessed a terrorist break into her school and kill two of her classmates. She tried to run but tripped while grabbing her schoolbag, causing her ballet slippers to fall out. She stopped to pick them up. He chased her and grabbed her by the hair, shooting her in the head at point-blank range. The man was Mohamed Merah, and a rap song honoring him and other Muslim terrorists has become the unofficial anthem of the โ€˜student protestsโ€™ in France.

George Orwell, in April 1945, was discussing how otherwise intelligent, seemingly reasonable people could accept demonstrably false accusations about Jews. He described people who insisted that their hostility toward Jews was based on objective observations rather than prejudice. He then wrote: โ€œYet one of the marks of antisemitism is an ability to believe stories that could not possibly be true.โ€ Orwell followed this with an example involving a deadly crowd crush at a London Underground station in 1942 and the false stories circulated about Jewish responsibility.

Where is the Green voice that is pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel? Engagement with Palestinians and Israelis is more likely to achieve peace and security for both peoples than boycotts and sanctions.

The Palestinian Authority is jailing Palestinian activist Ali Shraim, who has spoken out against Hamas terrorism and been repeatedly attacked by Hamas supporters in the West Bank. The charge? โ€œInsulting high-ranking officials.โ€ This is the same Palestinian Authority that keeps promising reform. Those promises mean nothing while it jails people for criticizing its officials.

The massive, independent review into antisemitism in UK schools and colleges has come out today. There are a lot of statistics given by the study that I could throw at you, but I think I'll highlight one particularly horrific one. Amongst secondary teachers who teach about the Holocaust, 40% reported encountering antisemitism among their students, usually in the form of mocking the way Jews look and our "greed." So, as students were learning about the Holocaust, seeing the pictures of dead Jews in piles on the ground, they would make these kinds of comments. Not only that, but a main part of the survey is investigating how antisemitism is not widely understood by teachers and how it often goes greatly underreported because incidents will, more often than not, be downplayed or not understood as antisemitism. So 40% is probably not even the accurate number. With the study comes 27 recommendations to reform the education system in the UK. These recommendations include adopting a clear definition of antisemitism, editing the Teacher's Standards to include antisemitism as a kind of hatred and prejudice that teachers must confront, training teachers in identifying antisemitism, and more. I really hope these recommendations are implemented, because antisemitism is awful enough for an adult to deal with, children shouldn't be facing it on their own.

Some of those intent on downplaying the report into antisemitism in schools are confused by the fact that despite so many Jewish children going to faith schools, 3/5 Jewish kids have experienced antisemitism. This is why. Outside the school gates they are attacked by other children. Their buses are hit. There has been a spate of incidents at Belsize Park tube station near one Jewish school, with at least two serious assaults. Outside another Jewish school in Hendon, a car tried to run over pupils. The list goes on. And on. And on.

Claiming that it's Islamophobic to oppose jihadists is like claiming it's homophobic to oppose the killings of Jeffrey Dahmer. The majority of people jihadists kill are other Muslims!
