My two cents on Moyale conflict:
The Garre-Boran warfare along the Ethiopia-Kenya frontier is cyclical in nature and wired into the conflict system and political economy of the borderlands aggravated by climate stress.
It is primarily about competition over resources, dominance of the southern trade corridor, changing settlement patterns, migration and the politics of demographics.
This is a conflict that can only be resolved by the Oromo/Boran on one side and the Garre Somali elders with support from the governments of Kenya and Ethiopia.
It is unacceptable for Somalis in Kenya and Somalia to latch onto this conflict, inflame local sentiments and worse claim the two Moyales as a Somali territory.
The starting point of a peace settlement must be to recognise the complex interdependence, social and demographic heterogeneity of the borderlands whilst not seeking to change the administrative status of Moyale-Ethiopia as part of Oromia Regional State.
Extremist ethnic nationalism and exclusive narratives that seek to 'other' one community is retrogressive and must be censured very strongly by Kenya and Ethiopia.
More importantly, leaders from far away who use their influence to fan the flames of ethnic discord must be held to account.

Where have building collapses occurred since 2020?
- We recorded at least 83 building collapses in Kenya between 2020 and October 2026.
- At least 30 buildings have collapsed in Nairobi since 2020.
- Kiambu has recorded at least 13 building collapses.
I wish quality housing was what you are doing but you are not doing that.
The highrise AHPs will end up being vertical slums as the template has never worked in any country. They will end up being just like Pipeline because they follow the same logic: maximise the land use.

This is Ojijo Road. Excavation is underway, destroying the existing elaborate storm water drainage and pedestrian walkway. Does anyone know what the works are? I do not know.
@KURAroads owes us a duty to display the signboard of the project so that we can query the propriety of the same. For now, we can only conclude that this is a scheme to steal public funds because there is no problem on Ojijo Road requiring repairs.

So the collapsed building did not have county approval but had NCA registration which cannot be completed without PPA2 form from county. Corruption is costly.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja says the multi-storey building that collapsed along 9th Street in Eastleigh was under construction without the required approvals, despite an application for a 15-storey building with a basement having been submitted.
Sakaja says the county has forwarded documentation to the DCI for investigations and called for accountability among the developer and professionals involved, including the architect and engineer on record.
You cannot get NCA approval without a construction permit from the County.
What is the County trying to hide?

This was the whole point of cutting all the trees.
The push began when Sakaja pruned trees in the CBD, blaming Marabou Storks for shitting on tourists.

Genomic sequencing shows that the Ebola virus from Nigeria’s recently reported only imported case is highly similar to that from Kenya’s @MOH_Kenya reported first imported case, differing by only one mutation.
My thanks to the sequencing teams at @NCDCgov and the Institute of Genomics and Global Health @RedeemersUni , Ede, and to @christian_happi for this excellent work.
We are forging ahead with public health control measures while awaiting results of further investigations and testing.

The Ministry of Health mourns the death of a 65-year-old woman who was receiving care for Bundibugyo Ebola and extends heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and community. Seven patients continue to receive care. All nine cases remain within one cluster, with no evidence of community spread.

One of the things that triggered me to be bullish about Ke is how one of the big palm oil producing countries was hyperventilating when it looked like Ke was to make a deal with their rival.
As usual, we messed it up but it was clear. Hii soko sio ndogo.

Response efforts continue at the site of the building collapse along Yusuf Haji Avenue, 9th Street, Eastleigh.
Kenya Red Cross teams are working alongside multi-agency partners to support search and rescue operations.
Please keep clear of the area to allow responders to work safely.
A dust storm has just blown through Nairobi. It reminds me of the harmattan winds or a dust storm in the desert.

This is inaccurate. The U.S. Department of State issued an ordered departure for non-emergency U.S. government employees and their family members in Saudi Arabia only.
Iranian-supported Houthis have increasingly engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions.
The safety and security of Department personnel and their families remain our highest priority, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to protect and support them.
