Quakers always paint themselves as oppressed.
Britain locked up 10,000 Quakers. 450 died in prison. 🇬🇧
Their crime, under the Quaker Act 1662, was refusing to swear an oath.
Because they told the truth all the time.
Barclays Bank: founded 1690 by Quakers John Freame and Thomas Gould.
Lloyds Bank: founded 1765 by Quaker Sampson Lloyd.
Cadbury: founded 1824 by Quaker John Cadbury in Birmingham.
Clarks shoes: founded 1825 by Quakers in Somerset.
They were the first organised religious body in the world to formally condemn slavery. The Germantown Petition, 1688. London Yearly Meeting followed in 1761. Decades before Wilberforce.
Elizabeth Fry walked into Newgate Prison in 1813. The Gaols Act passed in 1823.
At their peak they were 0.2% of the population. One in five hundred people.
They changed everything.
Be Proud Of Us. 🙏🇬🇧

A devotion on agonizing elections and the reign of Jesus Christ: Psalm 110
Whenever elections go poorly in our minds, it’s a common thing for Christians to turn to these words from Psalm 110, these words about Jesus Christ, the Son of David, sitting at the right hand of the Father with His enemies as His footstool. In moments of political terror, we like to remind ourselves not to trust in earthly kings but to trust only the King of Kings.
This is good, right, and salutary, of course. As long as we mean the right thing by it. We shouldn’t mean, “look, God’s still in charge and He’ll take care of us and we’ll all be fine.” We shouldn’t cite these words to make an appeal to political moderacy. Certainly, we all have a tendency to overvalue how dire the stakes are in the moment, but, at the same time, well, sometimes things are dire. Those who refuse to protect the lives of the unborn are inviting God to pour out His wrath upon them. Those who refuse to see the unique threat that Islam has always posed and still poses to the Christian world are inviting bloodshed and chaos into their neighborhoods. And many faithful Christians before you trusted that Christ was on His throne and still were caught up in the earthly chastisement of God or the evil He permitted to fall on them. So while it’s far more likely that those screaming about worst case scenarios are being hysterical than prophetic, it’s still true that Christ being on His throne is not a promise that our earthly kingdoms won’t be torn apart by civil war or nuclear weapons or a thousand other horrors.
Rather, when we confess that Christ is on His throne and that His enemies are under His feet, we are confessing that there is no cell of your flesh that is under the power of the devil, which means that there is not a cell of your flesh that can be lost to bombs or bullets or bayonettes or the jaws of the wolf. We are confessing that, even if your neighbors vote to tear you limb from limb, your limbs don’t belong to them. They belong to Jesus, who will claim those limbs as His own and clothe them in His sin-killing glory on the last day. Christ being on His throne means that, when we in our political foolishness have torn the world apart, our Lord will forgive our evil, lift us out of the muck of our own making, and welcome us into His embrace. Christ being on His throne means that our greatest moments of political glory will not compare to the heavenly glory we witness when He casts Satan into the pit and welcomes us into His embrace, just as it means that our deepest political despair, no matter how bloody, will not survive the moment the One who bled for us calls us out of the grave and into His glorious Kingdom.
Maybe things are not as bad as you think. Maybe they’re unfathomably worse. And maybe every earthly victory you’re boasting of today will be ripped out of your heart by tomorrow. No man knows. But God knows you. The Son He sent to make you know Him now sits on His throne. And in His own time, He will destroy everything that tore you up but could not tear you away from Him.
Trump isn’t Moses, but the results of last night’s election does make me think of Exodus 32.
Trump’s 2nd term is a dud, but even with that, what the Democrats elevate is an abominable worldview. They celebrate violence and oppression of thought. It’s their god.
Pray for USA.

In his Michigan Senate victory speech, @AbdulElSayed dropped the mask. Full Arabic name, Arabic accent, then “alhamdulillah”… praise be to God.
First Muslim U.S. Senator. No apologies. No assimilation talk. Just open Islam in the chamber.
The Muslim Brotherhood already celebrated his primary. They just got their first senator.

🚨 Support for SOCIALISM has gone up +17 points in 611 days with college students 18-24.
17 POINTS in less than two years under this Department of Education.
I've waited 611 days to tweet this out of respect for President Trump, but... our Education Secretary should RESIGN. RESIGN and get someone in this position who understands the war we're now in.
This isn't PERSONAL, it's SURVIVAL.
$79 BILLION in federal funding to the Department of Education since January, and we are at 42% of the youth on college campuses embracing SOCIALISM, and that number is SKYROCKETING.
THE NEXT GENERATION ARE VOTING FOR SOCIALISM.
We are FUNDING this demise.

Results so far tonight appear ... NORMAL. Get voters mad about the economy and other big issues and partisanship doesn't save you. That's how it used to be.
I voted today. All GOP and looked at the judges too.
In 2028, I will leave the top line blank if Vance is on the ticket.
X is not real life. In the real world, things cost too much, gas is too high, we didn’t kick Iran’s a$$, & DOGE was a bust. That’s why people didn’t vote.

Voters in 2024 wanted an end to the affordability crisis and a return to the economic prosperity we had before covid.
Instead, they got Postliberal Lyndon LaRouche, and all of it egged on by JD Vance's ideological hatred for mainstream economics.

This is a very important topic to address. I am glad @gavinortlund chose to make this really great covering of the issue!
I’ve said for years: if Jesus writes the sheet music of Christianity we see Paul playing it beautifully. Paul and Jesus aren’t at odds, they’re in lock step.

I must address something very important to me.
Let me start by saying that @FoxNews has been very, very good to me.
They've given me --just a regular guy who teaches at a college-- a platform on so many different shows.
They have treated me so well, and have always shown incredible moral clarity on the air and off.
I've made real friends there and I am so grateful that they have trusted me with their reach.
I deeply hope that I will not get banned for continuing to do now what I have always done on their airwaves before: call out antisemitism with strength, fortitude, and moral clarity. Whereever I see it.
Even if it happens on Fox.
I hope instead of closing me out that Fox will instead embrace me more, respect my position, and continue to view my unchanged beliefs as why they ever wanted me on in the first place.
Perhaps that even begins by discussing my concerns with Rachel Campos-Duffy directly.
But I realize the reality. I emphatically held one of their regular hosts to account for recent offensive comments she has made which, at least 2 or 3 times have even been strongly rebuked by her own co-hosts.
That doesn't usually bode well for little guys like me. They don't need me. I get that.
But to that I say, I have not and am not attacking Fox. I didn't attack Fox anywhere. Not on my posts here, not in my op-ed this morning. Not at all.
I'm asking them to course correct. I'm asking them to do what I've asked universities and others to do on their own airwaves so many times! They have graciously invited me on to do just that.
So I hope I am not done at Fox, but if I am that would really hurt.
In the meantime, I am disappointed with @RCamposDuffy.
In response to my viral Tweet about several appearances where @RCamposDuffy made comments that Jews widely viewed as antisemitic, today she responded, "'Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness' Isaiah 5:20"
No self-reflection. No remorse for the damage and hurt that she has caused to so many Jews.
And no response to my repeated and kindly-worded private notes to her asking to speak about this privately before I ever even considered going public with all of it.
Please read my piece that outlines the history in my @dcexaminer op-ed today. And please tell Fox: more Lax, not less! :)

"God the Son" is a threshold concept for Christian doctrine. If you don't get it, you'll keep sliding back & forth between eternal subordination and modalism. Once you get it (and we did write a nice creed about it), a whole field of theology snaps into place & solidifies.
