Michael Allen is another casualty of Judge Gull's Court.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 👏🏾 This quote hits different this year. We like to think the fight for civil rights and true justice is something in the history books, but when you are fighting a wrongful conviction, you realize the war isn’t over. The battlefield just looks different now. It looks like ignored evidence. It looks like “expert” opinions that don’t match the science. It looks like a system designed to close cases to keep up their conviction rate rather than find the truth. Fighting for Michael isn’t just about one man; it’s about refusing to accept a system that gets it wrong and looks the other way. Dr. King’s work isn’t finished until “justice” actually means justice for everyone, including Michael Allen. #MartinLutherKingDay #MLKJR #MLK #MLKDAY2026 #MLKDay2026

Soon we will jump back on board bringing a LOT more attention to this case. We have the files and are getting ready!
PART 6 (3 of 3): “We Reserve the Right to Decline Sharing Information.” Says attorney Nicholas Podlaski about those reaching out to assist Michael at trial. After Michael spoke up in court about his lack of defense, he didn’t get a strategy meeting. He got a letter from his attorney, Nicholas Podlaski, formally shutting down communication with Michael’s support system. They called the public advocacy “harassment.” But let’s be clear: Michael was in jail. He couldn’t email. The “harassment” was simply his family and the public asking why his attorney wasn’t doing his job. This created a lose-lose situation: If Michael stayed silent, he went to trial defenseless. If he spoke up, his attorney threatened to cut off communication. Michael Allen faced life in prison, and he was forced to fight the State and his own counsel at the same time. This is not justice. #MichaelTyroneAllenJr #PublicDefenseCrisis #LegalAccountability #HumanRights #AllenCountylndiana

Important to note - it's the same police department (New Haven PD) & same forensic pathologist did the autopsy (Scott Wagner MD) in Alison Davis' case.

In case you thought the #Delphi case was the only bad case handled by @incourts in Allen County, look how Judge Gull treated the defendant, who was dealing with a lazy public defender and a submissive Chief PD Lebrato, in the @FreeMikeAllen case. drive.google.com/file/d/12T_…

Seriously, I read the 4 pages you highlighted and honestly thought that he was the prosecutor. That's not great...

Nick Podlaski is a public defender and a private attorney and he was lead on @FreeMikeAllen case. He was not initially but #WilliamLebrato put him on the case, I believe in the 2nd year. To me, often the Defense Attorneys in Allen County seem like Prosecutors. More cases are coming...

Is Podlaski the defendant's attorney? He is sounds like the prosecutor, but when I looked up the name there is a Podlaski in the Public Defenders Office?

#Delphi people, If you watched Andy Baldwin on @defense_diaries yesterday and heard Bob refer to a case that was recently before Judge Gull, where she trampled all over the rights of the defendant, as she does, you should follow @FreeMikeAllen to find out more.

Ask yourself .. am I backing a CAUSE? Or am I backing an INDIVIDUAL? Let’s take corruption, for example. When you focus only on one person affected by corruption, you may help that situation temporarily, but the underlying system or behavior causing it continues. Fighting corruption as a cause can prevent future victims from suffering the same injustice. When advocacy centers on a single individual, others who are also suffering—perhaps quietly or without public attention—might be overlooked. Movements that stand for principles rather than personalities bring people together. It also prevents personalization & bias. Individuals can be flawed or have complex situations. A cause, on the other hand, is about values—like integrity, justice, and transparency—which are universal and harder to discredit. Does your advocacy depend on whether an individual is likable? Good looking? Wealthy? Free of a prior criminal history? Would you still be an advocate if the individual is hateful? Ugly? Poor? Cheated on their spouse? If your focus is on fixing what happened to one person, you’re supporting a story. If your focus is on preventing it from happening again, you’re supporting a cause.
