STRONG SIGNAL 🇩🇪 Tesla just updated the official tutorial video for TAD (Tesla Assisted Driving, formerly FSD)—and here’s the kicker: it was filmed in Berlin 🧨
This isn’t just marketing b-roll. It’s the mandatory onboarding video every driver must watch to activate TAD, right between accepting the user agreement and passing the required safety quiz.
Here’s what a frame-by-frame breakdown of the full 4:47 video reveals 👇
📍 Berlin everywhere
⏱️ 0:00 The opening shot highlights the iconic architecture along Karl-Marx-Allee.
⏱️ 0:48 The in-car display maps central Berlin (Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz, Kreuzberg), routing toward Alexanderplatz via Am Treptower Park.
⏱️ 1:52 Berlin’s Fernsehturm (TV Tower) comes into full view.
⏱️ 1:56 A signature yellow BVG bus (Berlin’s public transit authority) cruises ahead in traffic.
🚗 German license plates
At 1:59, the Ford directly ahead sports local Berlin plates (B-xx 3083), with the “B” prefix designating the city district.
🛣️ The A113 Autobahn
At 1:59, an overhead gantry sign reads “Johannisthaler Chaussee 700 m”—an exit on the A113.
At 2:16, the navigation banner confirms it: the A113, complete with the blue autobahn shield and a 120 km/h speed limit. The A113 serves as Berlin’s southeastern urban expressway, connecting Neukölln directly to BER Airport.
⚠️ Max Speed Offset capped at 10%
This is the biggest giveaway. At 2:16, while driving along the A113, the Max Speed Offset dialog displays 10%.
Tesla and German regulators previously aligned on capping the system's speed tolerance at no more than 10% over posted limits—a framework the German government has agreed to champion during EU approval discussions.
That is substantially stricter than existing European software builds, which allow offsets up to 50% above detected limits. Hardcoding or displaying a 10% cap in an official tutorial strongly signals a German-compliant build ready for deployment.
🤔 Why it matters
TAD is not yet legally cleared for retail customers in Germany, and geofencing prevents customer activation without local regulatory approval. That means this footage was almost certainly captured using internal Tesla engineering test vehicles.
Following Tesla’s October 8 rebrand of FSD to TAD across Europe and ahead of a pivotal EU vote expected this December at the earliest, filming the mandatory customer tutorial on public Berlin streets speaks volumes: Tesla is actively laying the groundwork for a German launch 🔥

This is what it’s like to get into a Tesla Cybercab.
As you approach with your phone, the doors auto-present. Once you get in and buckle your seatbelt, the doors close automatically.
It’s such a cool car to arrive or leave in.

Your car doors open sideways.
My Cybercab doors open up to the sky.
I literally tap “Open” on the screen… and the doors lift up for me to step out.
And it’s cheaper.
And it’s safer.
And it’s cooler.
And it drives itself.
We are not the same… the Cybercab is the best.

I am not exaggerating, there are Unsupervised Cybercabs without steering wheels or pedals all over Austin, TX right now at almost every corner.
It is SO BEAUTIFUL on the road. The glossy gold (first time seeing it) is stunning in the sun. I also LOVE how massive the wheels look.
This is literally the future. I’m in @Robotaxi heaven right now.

Using FSD is far safer than driving manually, as measured over 12 billion miles of its use. Safer by a margin of 2x the miles between collisions!
It can do so, because, FSD is trained on corner cases extracted from more than a 1000 lifetimes of driving. It has learnt to accurately predict the probability of collision even for crazy cases such others running red lights, swerving into us, kids running into roads and such. Do watch the full video for some highlights.
A no-brainer way to significantly improve your and your family's safety is to get a Tesla with FSD. It also completely takes the stress out of driving. Not saying this just because I work at Tesla, rather that it's genuinely a great product already and is continuing to get even better.
