It's Small Business Week!
Small businesses like Little Bit Western are the backbone of Timmins’ economy. Our government is taking action to make sure they can navigate economic uncertainty, grow and create jobs.
This week and every week, remember to #ShopLocal!
We’re using every tool at our disposal to protect Ontario jobs in the face of U.S. tariffs.
Through our Buy Ontario policy, we’re leveraging $30 billion in annual purchasing power to prioritize Ontario businesses, keep more money in our economy and support good-paying jobs right here at home.
Great to spend some time yesterday at Northern College with @lornecoe, touring the campus and connecting with the college community. Always nice to see firsthand what’s happening right here in northern Ontario.
Today I had a great visit to Université de Hearst and Collège Boréal alongside @lornecoe.
We had some valuable conversations about supporting students, building opportunities close to home and strengthening northern Ontario communities.
We’re not just investing in training. We’re getting people on the job.
As part of our government’s $2.5 billion commitment to skills training, we’ve already supported 1,000 projects that will help more than 700,000 workers train for in-demand careers. That’s how we protect workers, strengthen our economy and build a more competitive Ontario.
Ontario has proven time and time again that we are a global energy superpower.
Now we’re building what comes next: new nuclear, the largest battery storage fleet in the country, a plan to bring Alberta oil to our refineries in Sarnia and a stronger grid to connect it all.
That’s how we power the most competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the G7.
Northern Ontario continues to power Ontario’s economy.
Last week, alongside @Sflecce and @ToddJMcCarthy, I visited Detour Lake Mine to see how investment in Ontario’s mining sector is supporting critical mineral development, creating jobs, and helping secure the resources needed for our province’s energy future.
Thank you to the Agnico Eagle team for the warm welcome and insightful tour.
Happy Thanksgiving, Timmins!
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the people who make our community strong and to appreciate the many blessings we share here in northern Ontario. Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing, and joyful holiday weekend with family and friends.
We’re delivering on our plan to protect Ontario, with shovels in the ground on all roads to the Ring of Fire, five years ahead of schedule.
In partnership with First Nations, we are building one of the largest road projects in our province's history, creating thousands of good-paying jobs, driving lasting economic growth and positioning Ontario as a world critical minerals superpower.

The season is coming to a close at the Mountjoy Farmers' Market.
With the final market day taking place on this Saturday October 10, there's still time to support the local farmers, artisans, and vendors who have helped make this another successful season. Shopping local helps strengthen our community and supports small businesses across the region.
The Mountjoy Farmers’ Market is an important community hub that brings together local vendors, volunteers, residents and visitors.
To support this valued gathering place, our government is investing more than $157,000 through the NOHFC to upgrade the Mountjoy Farmers’ Market pavilion, expanding event space and increasing capacity for vendors.
Thank you to the Porcupine District Agricultural Society, the organizers, vendors and volunteers who make the Mountjoy Farmers’ Market such a great success. Be sure to check it out and pick up some local produce. The market is open every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until October 10.

Congratulations to the Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Centre on 50 years of making a difference in our communities.
It was an honour to present a certificate recognizing this remarkable milestone and celebrate an organization that has spent five decades providing essential supports, services, programs, and resources for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Their work extends beyond individuals, offering valuable support to families, schools, and community partners across the region.
Thank you to the dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters whose commitment has helped build a more inclusive and caring. Here's to the next 50 years of impact and service.
I was honoured to join attendees at the NEOMMS Gala Dinner as keynote speaker.
The symposium is a testament to the important work being done by prospectors and explorers across northeastern Ontario. Their determination, innovation, and commitment to discovery continue to create new opportunities and help drive the future of our region. Thank you to everyone who makes this event such a success.
Ontario is building for the future.
We’re investing $31 billion in highways, roads and bridges, including Highway 11 Passing Lanes to keep divers safe, reduce gridlock and strengthen our economy.
Today, our government is investing more than $6.1 million through @nohfc to support 14 agriculture projects across northern Ontario.
From tile drainage and farm expansions to processing upgrades and new equipment, these investments will help strengthen local food production, create jobs, increase productivity and support long-term growth across the north's agriculture sector.

Through the Northern Ontario Resource Development Support Fund (NORDS), we're helping municipalities build and improve infrastructure that supports economic growth across the north.
From road and bridge upgrades to projects that improve access to industrial and agricultural opportunities, these investments help communities attract development, support local industries, and strengthen regional supply chains.
Strong local infrastructure helps create the conditions businesses need to invest, expand, and create jobs.

Through NOHFC's Regional Tile Drainage Initiative, we're helping producers improve farmland and bring more land into agricultural production.
Tile drainage improves soil conditions by helping manage excess water, extending growing potential and increasing the productivity of agricultural land.
These investments increase both the amount and quality of arable land in northern Ontario, helping farmers boost crop yields, strengthen farm operations and support the future growth of the sector.
