Today we have set out how we’re building AI to accelerate science and improve people’s lives. Just some examples in the last week or so: - Mapped all 9B possible single letter genetic changes across the human genome with AlphaGenome Atlas and made it openly available to researchers. - Billions of decisions depend on weather predictions so we introduced WeatherNext 3, our most accurate and capable global weather AI model to date. - We published AI & Economy ATLAS, a comprehensive open-access look at how people are using AI globally. - AI has enabled extraordinary advances in language translation. Today our services are available in nearly 300 languages, spoken by 7B people We’re focusing our efforts on four key areas: health, natural disaster and weather resilience, learning, and economic opportunity. blog.google/innovation-and-a…

Gemini 3 Deep Think is now available for Ultra users, making available our IMO & ICPC Gold Medal-winning technology. Deep Think shows improved generalization on difficult benchmarks like ARC-AGI-2, and outperforms Gemini 3 Pro on HLE & GPQA Diamond. We hope this serves as a useful step toward ever-more-capable scientific reasoning agents. bit.ly/48EPzdz

So I ran my bench of perfect-information-games against the new Gemini 2.5 Experimental and -- it's quite good. It displaces DeepSeek V3, by a lot. But I also found that reading through the transcripts of its thoughts, they seemed qualitatively different.

With gemini 2.5 pro pricing and results, Google has fixed the biggest unknown/weakest link in their lineup and we can now confirm that @GoogleDeepMind completely owns the pareto frontier down to 1220 elo (at least until o4-mini and gpt5?)
updated price-elo pareto frontier with deepseek v3/r1 and gemini 2 flash thinking 2 results notes: - o1-mini and o3-mini are going to have to DRASTICALLY cut prices (like, at least 25x) to keep up. it is not a surprise that o3-mini is going to be in free chatgpt much sooner than o1-mini curve. - claude 4 needs at least 75 elo step up to be relevant - distillation research (like we cover in the @madiator podcast today) meaningfully bends the pareto frontier over time. it is awe-inspiring to plot out and observe. - 2023's We Have No Moat memo might be experiencing a redux - this time at Meta, and maybe at the other big labs more in today's subscriber poast

As a longtime "tools for thought" user, I'd seen a lot of mind maps, but I'd never been a big believer. But in one inspired weekend of prototyping, @HcwXd completely changed my mind. Mind Maps are now available to all @NotebookLM users. Here's why they're different... The problem I'd always had with mind maps really came down to two things: they were complicated to build manually, and once you'd assembled them, they weren't all that useful. Like, it was nice to see a diagram of the core concepts in whatever material you were mapping, but once you had that visualization, there wasn't really a next step that helped you explore any of those concepts. But about four months ago, shortly after he joined the Notebook team, @HcwXd built a mind maps prototype in his spare time. It eliminated the laborious process of manually creating links or tagging with concepts, and just generated an interactive map of all your sources automatically. That was amazing enough. But the thing that really blew me away was this: every node in the map launched a full NotebookLM query with one click. So you can get an amazing visualization of the core ideas or themes in your sources, but then instantly drill down to get a detailed overview of a specific topic, with citations back to the original source material. It's a genuinely new way to navigate through a large body of information. The best way to try it out is to create a new notebook, and add the last 20 or so documents you've written or read recently (PDFs/Docs/Slides/etc.) Then generate a mind map -- you'll have an amazing visualization of where your head has been for the past few weeks.
