Uber passenger: "Love your Tesla. But how often do you have to find a place to charge it?"
Me: "I never have to find any place, I don't use public chargers. I charge out of my garage wall, just like you do your iPhone at home."
Uber passenger: "Well how much does that increase your power bill?"
Me: "I don't know, how much does your iPhone increase your power bill?
Uber passenger: "Uhhhhhh, well, I don't know."
Me: "Yeah, me neither. It's that negligible and unimportant."
Uber passenger: "Ok, but what about battery fires? I know they catch fire all the time. How many batteries have you gone through?"
Me: "12"

Regarding the big AI selloff this week, we heard from Elon, Zuck, and Jensen that we’re still early, and I agree with them:

We are going to have a Y2K moment one day soon with David. Everyone prepare, the Mayans foretold this.
Friend: “What’s the AI trade been like this year?”
Me: “Do you ever just leave the house for a few hours each month to avoid your wife or girlfriend? Then a few days later it’s all good and everything is back to normal?”

I estimate Cybercab will launch in Dallas around November 15, 2026 which is around the time they will hit 1 million autonomous miles in Dallas.

Mercedes-Benz has a $42 billion market capitalization today.
If they had just held their Tesla stake, it would be worth more than the rest of the company!
Mercedes sold its Tesla stake for $780 million. that same 4 percent is worth about $56 billion today.
in the clip below Musk explains how Mercedes ended up there. the US government gave Tesla almost $500 million, and he is asked directly whether that loan saved the company. he says no.
what saved it was a $50 million check from Daimler in May 2009. all of Tesla was worth $550 million then.
"they were the only ones. there was no other company, no other entity of any kind from which we could get investments."
Tesla repaid the government's $500 million with interest and a prepayment penalty, ten years early. he sent a thank you note with it.
"i don't like having a lot of debt. the taxpayers supported Tesla, we ought to repay them as soon as we can."
Mercedes turned $50 million into $780 million and walked away in 2014.
so was that a great investment - or the most expensive mistake in car industry history?

The world’s most accomplished tech founders and business leaders are betting hundreds of billions on AI with extraordinary conviction. Meanwhile much of the investing world thinks they’re making a massive mistake. The irony is hard to ignore. An investment industry where very few have historically managed to beat a passive index is now questioning the judgment of the people building the technology and running the businesses that will put it to work. Maybe the investors are right. Maybe the builders are. But I can’t remember a time when the stakes were this high and the two sides saw the future so differently.
I completely agree @elonmusk. If you need one it’s ready!

After the Tennessee fiasco/disaster, I agree with the Governor of California on this one.
What happened to Polly Klaas and others at the hands of these animals was devastating, especially little Polly. But we can't be a nation of barbarians that allows for a system of botched executions.

Makes sense for SpaceX to acquire some terrestrial cellular towers. With their satellite network behind it, they’ll need far less terrestrial infrastructure than other carriers to provide equivalent service.
$SPCX is in talks to secure at least 80,000 U.S. cell sites as Elon Musk looks to turn Starlink Mobile into a 4th nationwide wireless carrier.
Combined with its growing satellite network and recently acquired spectrum, those sites could give SpaceX the ground coverage needed to compete directly with $T, $VZ and $TMUS.
