A long time coming. Saudis need to lease the Mass Effect IP to some autistic white guys so they can make an actually decent sci-fi RPG.

Trump's tweet where he says "I just want the world to stop killing itself!!" but instead it says "I just want people to chill out and enjoy their kids!!"

If you're a mom who reads this and your thinking is "ok but if they're not in bed on time that means their bedtime is off which means they'll be cranky in the morning which means they'll be hard to manage for the next few days until their schedule catches up and then and then and then" you are NEUROTIC, this is called "neurotic thinking," and the rx is 500mg of Chill Out, Baby, It's Not That Big Of A Deal

Later, she wanted to know why I was mad about it. I had to remind her that in 20 years, we wouldn't look back and wish we'd gotten them in bed on time. But we'd give anything to have one more hour out with our kids at that age, at that place, doing those things. She bawled.

Important note to all my recent seemingly hostile opinions: this is not entirely women's fault. They're inclined towards this anyway, and social media has amped it up. Just peek into a mom group on Facebook. It's "Indiana Jones Ark of the Covenant melting faces" kind of toxicity.

Martyr Mommy complex is a real problem. And if your children, even toddlers, just absolutely break down like this from a miniscule deviation to their normal routine, you simply have not given them a firm foundation of discipline. The world will not always cave to their needs.
This is not a man with the emotional intelligence to discern if his kids were hitting the end of their rope. Of course, when he's lugging screaming toddlers back to the car halfway through their "fun" extra hour, he'd blame her "arbitrary" schedule for that as well.

I had my kids late for a baseball game that went into extra innings. You know what happened? Basically nothing. Same for a hiking trip to a waterfall. And for fishing, and a sunset dolphin tour one time. The nightmare scenario is all in your head. Or, they need more discipline.

Martyr Mommies everywhere!
If you're a dad who reads this and your thinking is "ok but if they don’t get to stay up late with me at the fair they’re missing out on fun we could be having and what’s even the big deal to my wife it’s not like she’s doing anything besides watching them anyway she needs to chill out who cares if everyone is out of whack and the stress snowballs I got to go on the Ferris wheel one more time I simply must get another funnel cake the children must spend 7 hours a day having FUN instead of 6 I should make her cry about this" you are NEUROTIC, this is called "neurotic thinking," and the rx is 500mg of Chill Out, Baby, Bedtime is Not That Big Of A Deal

The teachers at school, in this instance. But what's wild is all the Martyr Mommies that pretend it's like the end of the world to have slightly cranky kids. Tell them to lock it down, or they get grounded. If you build a firm foundation, these problems simply never manifest.
While on one hand, yes I think too many parents are rules obsessed, I am curious who in this specific scenario would have ended up spending the most time consoling grouchy kids the next day.

I wonder how many of the women that got their knickers in a twist over this are either the "we never spank" type, or the type that criticizes their husband when he tries to lay down the law. "They're just overtired, it's not their fault!" Parenting is easy with law & order!

As a lifelong ruralite, I'll tell you about these "people." In short, they suck. They look at you the way you look at your neighbors who don't pay the light bill, smoke meth, and spent Sunday afternoon doing burnouts in their driveway. They build these little enclaves and never, ever so much as wave at you. If you're taking a walk down the road, they don't even slow down--even if you're pushing a baby stroller or riding a horse--and pepper you with gravel. Their social circle is elsewhere along with their business: out of state or otherwise "in town." They drive past a dozen country churches where their real neighbors are, to a church an hour away to participate in rich folk intrigues and hear a sermon on just how wonderful they are. They will occasionally try to do "country" things, which to them consists of putting up NO TRESPASSING signs every 8 feet around their palatial estates or drive around on a UTV that costs more than your family car. The people from where they opt to live, are nuisances to their performative country peace & quiet that they advertise, daily, on their social media accounts: "Nothing like a latte on the back porch! Love it out here!!!XOXO" captions a candid photo of the female sitting in a rocking chair that costs more than all the furniture in your house, covered in a artisan wool blanket that was more expensive than your wife's wedding dress. Out in the picture, often out of focus, is the douchebag, white collar, old money nepo-baby husband sitting on a brand new tractor that will never do any real work besides being a glorified lawnmower that weighs as much as a panzer tank. The front loader of which will never actually scoop shit or dirt, but will move some cute little strawbales around for their Fall Display that nobody will see from the road, but they'll also post on social media. They are insufferable, soulless people who see the countryside as something to consume, a brand to which they wish to be associated.
What do the people who buy a 700k new build mcmansion in the middle of fucking nowhere actually do with their lives

This is just neurotism and should be actively criticized, because unfortunately "martyr mommyism" is a real epidemic. Kids are profoundly simple. When I had my kids solo at younger ages, my wife would always get annoyed at how "easy" I reported it being.
Mom guilt is the emotional wear and tear of navigating 1000 tiny daily tradeoffs between your childrens' wants and needs, health, happiness, fun vs discipline, orderly household vs max playtime, etc etc. It's hard, often painful, and this is horribly unkind on the husband's part.

They ate a home-cooked meal. They had a bath. They got in bed at a reasonable hour. No fighting or bickering. Why? (1) No silly self-imposed rules or restrictions on my part, and (2) firm discipline to keep them in line. It is not hard. Stop making it hard!

Women are the worst about this when it comes to judging other women. Mom groups on Facebook are insane. They will dogpile any woman who isn't literally insane with neurotism and anxiety into feeling like an abusive monster. My position is pro-mom and pro-wife!

I've been hammering this for years. Virtually all modern women have this neurotic obsession with household chore load. Many of them spend all day on social media watching videos of other women bitching about this. What you will find is that it is totally illogical. Even in cases where the husband does over half, it doesn't matter. This data is more confirmation. Committing adultery obviously does nothing to fix this belief that they religiously hold. Even tom Brady's hyper-rich super model wife who obviously has an army of servants bitched to him about it in her Dear John letter. Its an insidious and insane mental disease that they don't actually want to cure.
Extramarital dating app, Gleeden conducted a survey titled "Why do women commit adultery" in 2023. One of the shocking findings of this research claim that 7 out of 10 women cheat on their husbands because they do not contribute in household chores.

This is a good example of The Schedule brain. What are the these dire consequences for staying up an extra 2 or 3 hours once in a blue moon? A fussy kid for the day. That's it. So, really, it's all just an excuse to carve out experiences from your kid for convenience's sake.

You're just dumping a bunch of unnecessary contempt on some moms to make them look like boring, mean, arbitrary sticks in the mud huh? Dads, especially you, get to be the fun, whimsical, philosophers who break the rules and liberate kids from the evil, pointless rulemakers. I bet my arm you're never the one that has to deal with the fallout of a child who didn't get enough rest, or the one who ate too much sugar, or fell and broke some bone. You're not the one that has to pay that price are you? Moms, and more importantly kids, do. Great system you've got there. By all means, continue as you were.

What it really boils down to is you want to send the kids off to bed so you can have "me time." Totally valid. We do it, too. The difference is men don't craft some elaborate narrative justifying the occasionally selfish parenting act.

As with most things, what's missing is honesty. You aren't doing it for them. You're doing it to save yourself the extra measure of patience required tomorrow. Great! But be honest, especially with yourself. The Schedule is for you, not them.

Schedulistas love to exaggerate how bad it is to miss bedtime by a couple hours. You get one day of whiny fussiness. When your kids are long gone into the world, living their own lives, and you could trade reliving 1 fussy day for riding the ferris wheel one more time, would you?

My idea for a sketch is for someone at a "adult victims of child molesters" support group to describe their experience and you slowly discover it was like a week ago, to a molester that was a literal child. Cut to a menacing 10 year old serial rapist in a jailhouse interview.
i still love the idea of a guy on to catch a predator who doesnt get whats going on and asks where the kid is
