Healey fails his own test…
The Chancellor resigned as Defence Secretary because the cash Starmer offered would have left our country ‘less safe’.
Instead, he demanded 3% by 2030.
Now he’s Chancellor, the best he can offer is a plan to have a plan for 3%.
NO cuts to welfare to pay for Defence.
NO tough decisions today.
John Healey’s manana budget.
🥀 Why won't Labour back @wandsworth Conservatives' challenge to the government over their unfair funding cuts?
I used my maiden speech last week to ask them👇

🥀 Despite over 60 public questions on council tax, they filibustered to ensure not even one resident got to ask a question on it. They then shamefully voted down our proposal to extend public questions - a slap in the face to those who turned up in good faith.

It's now a month since Reform won a by-election.
If they're not leading in the polls, and they're not winning elections either... what's the next Reformbot Cope going to be?

Tonight, Labour MPs voted AGAIN for the Family Farm Tax and Family Business Tax.
Eight chances to do the right thing. Eight times they chose to hammer farmers and family businesses.
Labour must listen. At the Budget, axe these vindictive taxes.

Pollster note: The changes are within the margin of error, so it's difficult to distinguish signal from noise, but I suspect there is some degree of "conference bounce" there, with the Tories getting a boost from their coverage, and Labour declining again as the temporary impact of their own conference fades.
It may well be a temporary Tory boost, but for the record it means this is the first time that we have had Reform back in third place since 2024 (it’s technically the first time since early 2024 – but we didn’t poll between the election and January 2025 while we were reviewing methods, so we don’t know exactly when Reform overtook the Tories).

We will be introducing bipartisan legislation to block any and all purchases of Russian oil. It will be called the “Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act.” It will be forced to the Floor via discharge and it will pass overwhelmingly. #PeaceThroughStrength
Slave Ukraini!
❗️I want to sincerely thank the people of Great Britain for everything you have done for Ukraine.
Even before the full-scale invasion began, Britain was among the first to provide us with NLAW anti-tank systems — weapons that helped stop Russian columns on the approaches to Kyiv and in other directions.
This support only grew afterward: thousands of NLAWs, Challenger 2 tanks (Britain became the first Western country to transfer main battle tanks to Ukraine), Storm Shadow cruise missiles, and other equipment.
I would especially like to highlight the large-scale training of Ukrainian soldiers. Through Operation Interflex, more than 60,000 of our troops have already received training on British soil — from basic training for recruits to courses for commanders and instructors. This is one of the largest programmes of its kind since the Second World War.
Great Britain continues to provide significant military, financial, and humanitarian assistance, and this means a great deal to us. Thank you, Britain.

I hope he resigned by baking an 'I Quit' cake, or left Lib Dem HQ with a marching band, or some other shenanigans, in true Lib Dem fashion

Polls consistently showing Labour, Reform, and the Conservatives within the margin of error. This is the second poll this week with the Conservatives ahead of Reform.
Farage's plan to "destroy the Tories" has abjectly failed. Bring on #CPC26!

I am furious at the incompetence of this Labour administration. Why on earth did they not see this coming. Or is this what they intended all along?
No doubt Labour will spin this as a great victory. But it isn’t.
Many farmers will be locked out as they are busy doing other important things - like farming!
Through their choices, Labour Ministers have literally designed a scheme around who can hit the ‘apply’ button quickest.
I suspect as I type, we are minutes away from 100% of the funds being allocated.
This is not how important decisions should be made. Labour clearly don’t give a damn.
We can confirm that 75% of the £233 million Window 2 budget for SFI26 has now been allocated, based on applications received so far.

Labour are slashing 40% from government funding to Wandsworth Council and forcing us to hike tax or go bankrupt.

Out with my fellow #Balham ward councillor colleague @DrJonathanIliff today & the team.
The Labour Government is cutting £84 million a year from #Wandsworth Council’s budget—a 40% reduction in funding—and demanding record council tax hikes to make up the difference.
We’re challenging the Labour Government to change course. @TeamLondonUK
In Battersea, this will quite literally hit 20,000 homes. That's nearly 50% of all households.

I think my constituents might lobby for the name to be changed from 'mansion tax' to 'three bed terraced house' tax.
An apalling move if true - at exactly the same time as slashing Wandsworth's funding. – at Wandsworth, London
