Over the last four years, we have stabilised our relationship with China through calm and consistent dialogue and today's meeting paves the way for the PM's meeting with the Chinese President Xi this month.

You will recall that in September the High Court refused Sall Grover @salltweets special leave to appeal in the landmark Giggle for Girls v Roxanne Tickle case.
A case of considerable importance to Sal, to biological women in Australia concerned about sex-based rights, & to the future interpretation of the Sex Discrimination Act in this country.
However, today the High Court granted Pauline Hanson special leave to appeal a racial discrimination ruling arising from her long-running dispute with Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi.
The dispute began following Queen Elizabeth II’s death, when Faruqi made comments about the monarchy & British colonialism that I considered appalling. Hanson responded by telling her to “piss off back to Pakistan.”
Hanson’s appeal raises constitutional questions about the Commonwealth’s legislative powers & the implied freedom of political communication.
I’m pleased Hanson has been granted the opportunity to have those questions heard by the High Court.
But I cannot help reflecting on the contrast.
Both cases raise significant questions about the interpretation & application of Australia’s discrimination laws, albeit on very different legal grounds.

I just want to marvel at the woman who is @salltweets for a moment.
A post of appreciation for the woman who has been put through hell by a country that prides itself on fairness and robustness.
We have all seen her deal with the persecution inflicted on her by the State through its agencies - Parliament, the AHRC, the court system, etc - with such strength, tenacity, and the unwavering knowledge that she is right.
We all know she is right.
Even the press that ignored her and the fight she was waging against the State for all women.
And still she steps up and gives it her all.
She is a talented, engaging and switched on woman. She is exceptional. And she has been cut down by the most absurd and authoritarian State perpetrated lie this country has ever seen.
She has had her business destroyed in this country because of lawmakers and institutions determined to enforce the ludicrous and dangerous nonsense on all of us that men are women when they say they're women.
And on the back of that first astonishing State mandated lie come so many more that can only lead to the abhorrent abuse of vulnerable people we see all around us now.
But Sall has not been silenced. Far from it!
