I politely disagree that those jobs should go to foreign guest workers, and propose a moratorium on legal immigration.

The original sin was DACA.
Obama used to say he wasn’t a king and that he couldn’t just change immigration law by himself. Then he did it anyway. In 2012 his DHS put out a memo and created DACA, handing work permits and protection from deportation to hundreds of thousands of people who entered the country illegally.
Congress never passed it. The courts have said it doesn’t fit the immigration laws on the books.
The Supreme Court never ruled that it was legal. Democrats have spent years defending it like it’s settled law instead of an executive workaround they liked.
One of the people who got that status is Miguel Alonso
Maldonado Soriano. He came illegally in 1999, got DACA under Obama, kept it under Biden, and lost it this year. Then he took a sledgehammer to the Iwo Jima monument.
They called people like him Dreamers and treated the program like a moral good. He used his time here to smash a memorial to the Marines who raised the flag at Iwo Jima.
Obama said he couldn’t act like a king, then did, and Democrats have had no problem with any of it. No Marchs, No protests , not a peep, That’s the record, end #DACA now …

#EXCLUSIVE Body cameras, badges and flashing lights, front and center during targeted enforcement operations in Houston today—We embedded with @EROHouston where we witnessed multiple arrests including an illegal immigrant from Mexico—His criminal history includes, enticing a minor for indecent purposes in 2013, a DWI in 2006 and he was arrested twice for driving without a license. A judge ordered his removal after he didn’t show up for his court date. @ICEgov worked alongside the county constable to make the arrest. He was taken into custody without incident.
In all, the team apprehended 4 out of 5 targets before 11am.
Director Bradford says the Houston office is averaging 100 arrests a day.

I was Director of Engineering at AMEX a year ago. They are doing this so that they can rehire in India. The inside story is MUCH WORSE than that though.
Amex has been doing silent layoffs for years. As director, the VP told me to gradually increase expectations on engineers so that we could fire them “for cause” When you do this as a leader you get a backfill head to hire for. The caveat at AMEX? The backfill head was already decided for you - they were in India, and usually from a body shop firm.
