Why is Janhvi Kapoor questioning objectification in Peddi without addressing similar portrayals in Devara and Bollywood?
In Devara, her character Thangam had limited role, while Chuttamalle emphasised on exposing. Bollywoodโs Bheegi Saree in Param Sundari also relied heavily on exposing presentation. And off screen too.
Of course, consenting to glamorous scenes is different from objecting to unwanted portrayals. Janhvi has every right to raise those concerns.
But if the larger issue is the objectification of actresses, the scrutiny shouldnโt stop at Peddi or Tollywood. The same questions must be asked of Bollywood and her other films. Consistency matters
