“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.

To the shock of absolutely no one.
If confirmed, this is telling: Russian data centres get hit, and online activity around AfD suddenly plummets. 📉 So much talk about German patriotism… then the connection from Russia goes down. 🤔🇷🇺

This. I was working on the House side at the time. Just a month after 9/11, we were closed down for a couple weeks because of these attacks. We were reeling. And yet, everyone -on both sides- was there ready to work when we opened back up, doing their job for their country.
The other thing that seems to have been largely forgotten is that we started getting the anthrax mailings right after. Just as we’re all reeling from something that seemed out of some dark climax of a Tom Clancy novel, suddenly we’re in a Robin Cook thriller, where just opening your mail can infect you with killer bacteria. Two postal workers got killed from inhaling it, just doing their jobs. The danger came in the most mundane and common form, white powder. If you spilled a packet of Sweet’N Low in a public place, everybody would get nervous a few minutes later. Again, kid, it was like the world stopped making sense; impossible things were happening, and you never knew where the danger was going to come from next.

This is one reason why the attack on empathy is so evil. If we have to wait for person after person to experience the brutality of this administration before we wake up, then we'll inflict an immense amount of pain on our country. But if, instead, we could place ourselves in the shoes of the immigrant in chains, then we can see the injustice more plainly. And no, this does not mean that we can't or shouldn't deport illegal immigrants when appropriate. It doesn't mean we must have open borders. But we can't lose our own humanity and decency in the process, and we must not use brutality as an instrument of enforcement.
"I was weeping like an old woman for an hour!" Milo Yiannopoulos opens up about the moment ICE arrested him, and admits that he "would not wish deportation on anyone". 📺 youtu.be/q5pSX84h9K8 @piersmorgan | @Nero

The X Safety team conducted an investigation into suspected Chinese inauthentic accounts involved in influence operations: We identified a bot farm of approximately 200,000 accounts. Within this farm, we found 200 accounts posting in a manner that could manipulate a legitimate debate about American AI and energy policy. These posts contained claims that AI data centers are driving up household electricity prices and straining the grid. Others included AI-generated cartoons that depicted data-center operators enriching themselves at the public's expense. We remain committed to maintaining an open and authentic platform where people debate topics of public interest. We take seriously any attempts to undermine the integrity of the global town square and suspend accounts that violate our Authenticity policy.

On one hand, data centers use insignificant amount of water. On the other hand, they cure cancer. So who’s to say if they’re good or bad.
AI dadacenters just don’t use that much water, there’s a panic over almost nothing. Here is a short animation to put AI water use in context:

You guys sure you don’t want more data centers?
This is freaking huge: For the first time, a AI-assisted personalized mRNA cancer treatment has succeeded in a Phase 3 trial. Moderna and Merck sequence each patient’s tumor and compare it with their healthy DNA. AI then helps identify which of the tumor’s mutations are most likely to trigger an immune response. From those targets, Moderna produces an individual mRNA treatment encoding up to 34 neoantigens, The earlier Phase 2 trial followed patients with surgically removed high-risk melanoma for five years: - 68.8% remained cancer-free, compared with 49.1% on Keytruda alone - 49% lower risk of recurrence or death - 59% lower risk of distant metastasis or death Now the much larger Phase 3 trial involving 1,137 patients has also succeeded. Absolutely incredible. Dario was right: cancer will be cured in just a few years!

New argument against data centers: They make you too rich and make your public amenities too nice.

If these data centers are so essential to our national security and economy and have such amazing benefits they should prove it by building them in the richest zip codes in America first.

Fascinating. Some data centers came to a struggling town in Washington state. Did it run out of water? Was the community destroyed? Let’s see. The town…built a new high school, hospital, library, sewage systems, and police & fire stations. Poverty fell from 29% to 6%. Oh.

Data centers pay ~57% of property taxes in Quincy, Washington. They funded a $15 million aquatic center—with a pool, waterslides & lazy river—and a 143,000-square-foot sports complex. They’ve created almost 1,000 jobs. The city admin called it a “miracle.” cnn.com/2026/08/11/business/…
