Feral cats are destructive invasive predators, responsible for driving to extinction > 200 bird, 100 mammal, and 90 reptile sps. In our forthcoming @ESR_IR, we reveal how #CapeVerde #petrel populations decline mainly due to cat predation📸@projecto_vito

Outdoor #cats are a global problem. They are an introduced species that contribute to #biodiversity loss and #extinction. Don't lie to yourself–allowing your cat or supporting feral cat colonies contributes to this problem.

Dr Mike Bamford demonstrates the damage a single cat can deliver in a suburban garden.
There's estimated 3.8M domestic cats in Australia....Makes you wonder why we're still letting cats roam our neighborhoods.

Yet another reminder that #cats are such a significant problem to to biodiversity—not just by killing native birds, mammals, and reptiles, but also by completing with other desert predators for limited food resources.

Oh look, two cats with preventable injuries that had to be euthanized bc they were let outside. Wish people who claimed to love their pets took the steps to prevent their pets from being hurt this way #keepcatsindoors
Yes yes yes yes yes! The @Natures_Voice is continuing to spread MISINFORMATION that is harming #cats and #birds!

So unfortunate that @NPR @nprpolitics would choose to highlight someone who allows their #cats to roam freely outside.
It’s irresponsible to romanticize the idea that introduced species belong in our local environments. CATS DON’T BELONG OUTSIDE

So it’s especially insulting that you chose to highlight someone in an intro that popularizes her cats “stalking birds”. Are you kidding me?!
It’s so irresponsible to let cats freely roam. It can be a death sentence for native lizards, amphibians, mammals, and #birds. But it is also so dangerous for the #cats themselves to be allowed to roam!
Shame @nprpolitics. SHAME

Outdoor cats kill an estimated 2.4 billion birds a year in the USA alone.
If they’re friendly, they likely aren’t feral. Stray cats can be re-homed to indoor-only homes and they can live long, safe, happy lives. 🐈➡️🏡❤️

#OPINION | No civilised country allows dogs on the street. They are caught and kept in pounds for adoption, and if no one adopts them, they are euthanised, writes @itsanandneel.

#27 New Caledonian Nightjar (Eurostopodus exul) is also endemic to its namesake island and faces the same threats as #26: #HabitatLoss via #mining #forestry, #cats, & #rats.
to top it off, @Tesla is building more mines in New Caledonia too! 😅🫤😟🫥

#28 Polynesian Ground Dove (Alopecoenas erythropterus) occurs on a handful of islands in the Tuamotu Archipelago, French Polynesia. #cats & rats are very problematic threats for this #bird, as well as habitat degradation from humans and rising sea levels from #climatechange
#Cats have caused extinctions
Cats are contributing to declines of critically #endangered #animals
#cats kill billions of birds annually
It doesn’t matter whether your cat would “never hurt a living thing”
