One week ago today, three young kids were killed in a mass shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon.
Rhoam Summer was only 5 years old, and the youngest victim to have been killed in a mass shooting at a school. His family shared that Rhoam loved rainbows, unicorns, sharks, and dinosaurs. He loved to cook with his parents, sing, and tell stories of creatures with big teeth who need understanding and friendships. The Summers hope that we continue to honor him by making art and getting messy with our hands.
The other two children were 8 and 11 years old. Their names have not been publicly shared at the request of their families.
They each deserved to return home from school, to be safe and protected in their classroom, and to grow up. America’s gun violence crisis stole that from them. Our hearts are with their families and the entire Bend community as they continue to grieve this devastating loss.

Sam was a beautiful person that cared deeply about her community. She shone like a beacon of light, consistently putting others over herself. Her family & friends still grieve.

Today marks the third anniversary of the senseless murder of Samantha Woll, a former member of my staff, a proud Jewish woman, and a remarkable community leader whose impact continues to be felt across Metro Detroit and beyond.
Sam believed deeply in the power of people of different faiths, backgrounds, and perspectives to come together, listen to one another, and build a better future. Through her leadership, her advocacy, and her work to strengthen interfaith relationships, she showed us that bridge-building is not simply an ideal but a commitment we must choose every day.
As Sam said, “We do not know where we are going, but we are headed there together.” We have a responsibility to live up to those words and continue the work she cared so deeply about.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her example continue to guide us.

I am pleased to announce that the Department of the Interior, under the auspices of Secretary Doug Burgum, and in conjunction with famed Golf Course Architect, Tom Fazio, has developed a plan to build a World Class Championship Golf Course on the site of the current East Potomac Golf Links, located in Washington, D.C. When completed, it will be open to the Public while, at the same time, designed to the Highest Level of Golf and able to hold World Class Tournaments such as the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup, and the Presidents Cup. This Course will create many Jobs, and have a tremendously positive Economic Development impact on Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area. Millions of Dollars will inure to the Capital area. The current Course is old, broken, dilapidated, and of no further use or effect. It is in very poor condition, with falling, dangerous, and disease infested trees and, importantly, a collapsing and hazardous seawall. When the East Potomac Course was originally built, it was famous for no trees, with views of Washington, D.C., for all to see, but now, it is completely overgrown, dysfunctional, and unsafe. Restoration work will begin on the Fazio Design on November 15th, when the old Course will be closed to play. The new Course will be opened in approximately 15 months. The United States Golf Association, PGA of America, and the PGA Tour have already been notified that they will soon have one of the Best and Most Spectacular Golf Courses anywhere in the World to put on their list of great places to play, and hold Major Events. The 14th Amendment is clear: if you're born or naturalized here, you're a citizen. Full stop. Detaining or deporting Americans violates the Constitution and everything the Founders built. Due process is a mandate, not an option. The calls to deport Americans must end.
It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Parents, if this has happened to you, please return the child to the school. You picked up the wrong kid. Also, do not leave your children at school for 3-4 days. That’s irresponsible. Perhaps this incoherent man has never picked up or dropped off kids at school in his life.

For those that haven’t seen Casablanca, it turns out this public official on the right is on the take. I mean, can you imagine? Accusing others of committing crimes when this officer is accepting bribes? Crazy, right?

Here’s a more basic explanation: if you’re a public official or candidate in a public forum - you’re fair game.
There’s no reasonable expectation of privacy.
Act & converse accordingly. If you screwed up, apologize, & move on.
