MCPS’ opening 26-27 enrollment is down approximately 2,000 students compared to projections. The reasons stated: federal immigration policy and declining birth rates. Hot take- @MCPS isn’t acknowledging that in addition to those issues, parents are choosing alternatives to government run schools. I have seven nieces and nephews in MoCo ages 12 and younger. None of them are or will enroll in MCPS. Home school and private. That’s just one anecdotal example. Who else is seeing MoCo parents they know educating their kids elsewhere?
