Producing 4 condiments makes a company a global oppressor in Elizabeth Warren’s world.
Hellmann's mayo McCormick spices Cholula hot sauce Frank's RedHot What do these products have in common? One company could soon control them all. I have concerns that McCormick and Unilever's $45 billion merger could increase YOUR grocery prices.

The biggest threat to progressive policies is freedom of speech, and they know it
My Catholic Priest publicly announced at every mass he was denying me Holy Communion following the assisted dying vote. Children who are friends of my children were there. This followed a direct threat in writing to do this four days before the vote. 1/3 observer.co.uk/news/national…

Says the guy who led the charge to ban leaf blowers
Maryland is paying the price for Trump’s trade war. Canada is Maryland’s #1 export market. Trade wars may make for tough talk on cable news, but here in Maryland, we’re talking about jobs, prices and our economy.

COST PLAYBOOK: Club for Growth is distributing a memo and 76-page policy packet to Republican lawmakers arguing that government spending — not market forces — caused the affordability crisis crushing American families. The conservative group urges the GOP to resist subsidies entirely and instead push structural reforms on housing, energy, and childcare costs. Their argument: federal expansion under Biden during COVID permanently drove up the price of everyday goods, and more government money will only make it worse. The strategy is a gamble with midterms less than 50 days out — and it puts GOP lawmakers on a collision course with Trump's promise to hand every American adult $5,000 if Republicans keep Congress. MCPS’ opening 26-27 enrollment is down approximately 2,000 students compared to projections. The reasons stated: federal immigration policy and declining birth rates. Hot take- @MCPS isn’t acknowledging that in addition to those issues, parents are choosing alternatives to government run schools. I have seven nieces and nephews in MoCo ages 12 and younger. None of them are or will enroll in MCPS. Home school and private. That’s just one anecdotal example. Who else is seeing MoCo parents they know educating their kids elsewhere?

“Launch everything you can get airborne and find Air Force One.” … “Houston Center, Jazz 1 requests 44,000 feet and a heading of 330.” “Any altitude, any heading, Jazz. The airspace is yours.”
“How many jets can you get airborne?” It was NORAD, calling the 122nd Fighter Squadron in New Orleans on the morning of September 11, 2001. “We’re loading missiles on jets now,” I said. “We’ve only got four pilots.” Five minutes later, the phone rang again. “Launch everything you can get airborne and find Air Force One.” We scrambled four F-15s and headed for Barksdale Air Force Base, where President Bush had just addressed the nation. Unrestricted climb to 23,000 feet. “Houston Center, Jazz 1 requests 44,000 feet and a heading of 330.” “Any altitude, any heading, Jazz. The airspace is yours.” During the climb, Houston Center came back on the radio. “There’s only one other plane airborne, and I suspect that’s who you’re looking for.” After that, the radio was eerily quiet as we sped toward northwest Louisiana. We got radar hits on Air Force One, but were still miles away when we received word that a flight of F-16s had arrived to escort the President. The rules of engagement we were operating under that day have since been declassified. They were simple and sobering: The Vice President has cleared us to intercept Targets of Interest and shoot them down if they do not respond. Think about that for a moment. For generations, geography had protected America. Two oceans separated us from our enemies, and we trained to keep threats from getting here. On September 11, that all changed. The enemy was already inside our airspace, and the aircraft themselves had become the weapons. That was the day our definition of homeland defense changed. We can’t assume the next threat will look like the last one. We can’t assume distance will protect us. And we can’t afford to become so comfortable that we forget what we’re supposed to be watching for. September 11 isn’t just about remembering what happened. It’s about remembering why we have to remain ready.

I’m excited to be in Columbus, OH today to interview @SecretaryWright about the need to get federal permitting reform over the finish line this year. It’s the most important step we can take to keep America’s energy system reliable, affordable, and able to meet growing demand.

Dolly Parton carried the music, stories and spirit of her Tennessee mountain home wherever she went. She was a lifelong champion of the Great Smoky Mountains and proudly shared her love for them with the world. While we may no longer see her working 9 to 5, we will always love her. Here’s to Dolly, who made our world a little more beautiful.

What if the 10 local “travel teams” just started playing each other?
Travel sports are the biggest, most obvious scam in the world. Oh you'll charge me thousands of dollars to wake up at 4am to drive my kid 90 minutes away to play a sport that will ruin our family weekends and have zero impact on their adult life? Pass. xitter.cf/NYMag/status/209186092…

We do 3 races in your state per year. Would be nice if you got our series right given the economic impact we have in your state, which allows for jobs, income for businesses and hospitality, and more in the state of Wisconsin, a group of citizens which you represent and thrive off of @IndyCar presence. Milwaukee double header, this weekend. 😜
