ALT This thoroughly revised second edition investigates the role of international law in preventing, preparing for and responding to both ‘sudden’ and ‘slow-onset’ disasters. With both revised and entirely new chapters, this Research Handbook explores international law in light of significant contemporary global challenges and developments in theory, law, and practice.

There must be consequences for a member state that not only violates countless UN resolutions but also wages war on the United Nations and its personnel. Scholars of international law, IR, politics, please sign this petition to unseat Israel from the UN.

Genocide is a complex and insidious crime; proving destructive intent is an onerous task - yet not when it is so ostentatious, sustained by a political doctrine of ideological hatred and articulated through institutional structures and policies.

Shaban al-Dalou’s father described how he tried to save his children after an Israeli air strike that engulfed their tent in flames.
Ahmad al-Dalou spoke to Middle East Eye about the horrifying night. He explained how helpless he felt when he could not save Shaban, who was connected to an IV drip when the strike hit the tents.
Footage shared on social media showed Shaban trying to move as he was burned to death.

How badly dominant understandings of genocide as the ultimate evil have prepared us for the fact that genocide can look like this.

Israel's right of self-defense is no longer engaged. Iran's unlawful attack is over.
Statements like these appear to endorse armed reprisals, which are unlawful and fuel escalation.
I search for wise leaders, but find none so far.

My chapter uses a TWAIL lens to argue that while there is important work in identifying how international law can be used to reduce disaster risk, it's also vital to examine how the law itself may be creating and exacerbating risk and how we can prevent this

This is not a “privacy breach”: injuring 2750+ people as they go about their daily lives is an unconscionable terrorist attack.

How was Isr. able to starve 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza at unprecedented speed and intensity?
I answer this question in my new report. I'll be discussing my report with the @UN General Assembly on Friday, October 18.

If one includes both direct & indirect deaths from Israel's assault, the death toll in Gaza goes up to 186,000 people, according to the medical journal @TheLancet. That's 1 in every 12 Gaza inhabitants killed in the last 9 months of genocide.
BREAKING: The Lancet has just published this article "conservatively" estimating that the death toll in the Gaza genocide could be 186,000 people or more. That's 8% of the population, obliterated. These are apocalyptic figures.

With provisional measures for plausible genocide at the ICJ, an application for arrest warrants at the ICC and widespread video evidence of war crimes, states cannot claim that selling weapons to Israel is consistent with their obligation to ensure respect with int’l criminal law
