Not JUST because neither the U.S. or Iran has moved much from their red lines since the MOU collapsed, but because there is ZERO trust from the Iranian side that would warrant throwing a lifeline to Trump at the midterms, knowing full well he can always reverse course afterwards. The only POSSIBLE way I could see a deal being made at this point is if the United States agreed to immediately and irreversibly unfreeze an exorbitant amount of Iranian assets, likely at LEAST $50B, so that it would effectively completely unwind the damage of the U.S. blockade on Iran so that it becomes a dead strategy for Washington. Do you think that is likely to happen? Me neither.
