Dr Dodo explaining how IMF loans crippled Zimbabwe Yet, same @MYANC went ahead and signed us up for failure. IMF imposes neoliberal policies of privatization and austerity. That’s why they told you to hate Jacob Zuma. You fell for it 😭
Summary of Dr Thandi Dodo Sidzumo-Mazibuko interview (1986) 1. Any forms and levels of material aid from foreign donors must be limited to what African people themselves have requested. 2. Aid terms and conditions must comme from the people. Communities must determine their most pressing needs and only then can well meaning aid givers come to the party. 3. Most agencies are interested in getting quick results while overlooking the human element in development projects. When you work with human beings you cannot operate in technical and systematic cold fashion. 4. We must look into who creates hunger and who sustains that hunger, the national and International forces with a negative impact on different communities. 5. Assistance must be given on our own terms, we must determine that kind of help we need. 6. Before participating in a community development project, we must first understand that community's perceptions of its needs. 7. On the basis of the community's description of its needs we can use our communication and technical expertise only for the purposes of complementing existing capabilities. 8. We must be clear that development highlights a community's struggle to develop itself. Development is community participation in breaking away from all kinds of dependency, economically or otherwise to attain self reliance. The role of the expert is to increase capability of the focus group. 9. Education is divided between education for LIBERATION and education for DOMINATION. In the case of the latter, self proclaimed development experts like IMF are divorced from the realities of communities where thy they impose their aid programmes. The communities are always left poor ,disempowered and more prone to continued domination. 10. The role of tbe researcher is to provide social analysis, make people aware that when a certain area or community is underdeveloped it is not always because the community members are lazy. Due to historical colonization of Africa by Europe, the question of monocultures has been created such as in Senegal where people were forced to produce rubber while they were experiencing a problem of hunger. 11. There are national forces and international forces that impact lives. International forces like IMF and World Bank impose themselves on governments and enforce anti-development loan or aid conditions. Loans from IMF and World Bank must be rejected as they are not meant to support the livelihoods of our people especially the poorer classes. 12. Researchers have a duty to bring this information to communities so that they develop an understanding of the machinations of different forces with regards to development, how the world functions, and how that affects our situation. 13. Researchers must present data to communities, allow those communities to evaluate the data and give their input so that they don't become objects of research. That is the only effective way of mobilizing for the material and intellectual development of people. Anything else opposite to that will render the researcher an agent of imperialism. 14. The structural cause of hunger in Africa is land pressure which is a product of white colonizers taking all the productive arable land and pushing our people to the dry reserves. Colonizers did not come with civilization, even when you go to the most remote of areas where people have to access to modern sources of agriculture information, in their own rudimentary ways the people know about the differences in soil types and their suitability for certain kinds of crops. The view that Africans don't understand their land is an ugly lie. 15. The role of the researcher is to compliment existing knowledge and share information on organisations that control our lives such as IMF and World Bank. 16. There must be a balance between monetary inputs and communication inputs bearing in mind that in all development projects, our people must attain intellectual development too. 17. Part of the struggle for social and economic justice is say NO to any forms of outside dominance.

High number of drug busts Lawlessness High influx of immigrants High intolerance what exactly is going on… and why is @GovernmentZA dragging its feet on these issues?
I called it. It’s going to get worse before it gets better, unfortunately.

The MK Party’s People’s Mandate is a timeless document. It is a document for all seasons, providing the ideological compass that guides the Party’s posture, in everything we do including the Bills we submit in Parliament and Legislatures. It is informed by what the people want.

So, I was surprised to find out that City of Joburg rents offices at a Mall? Newtown Junction Mall? 🤔 Even SARS is renting from the same mall. Who owns this Mall? What happened to the SARS offices on Rissik Street? How long has it taken for the Metro Centre to be fixed? How did we even get to a point where the building got soaked in water, damaged? Yho I have so many questions. Anyway, robalang hantle bathong. Good night everyone.

Section 27(1)(b) of the Constitution guarantees everyone the right of access to sufficient water. Section 27(2) requires the state to take reasonable measures, within available resources, to progressively realise that right. The fight has just began.
[WATCH] President Cyril Ramaphosa says municipalities will no longer have an automatic right to provide water and electricity. Instead, a compulsory licensing system will be introduced, with revenues from utility sales ring-fenced for infrastructure maintenance. He addressed the local government white paper launch today. There is no level of good parenting that can insulate the black youth of this country from the despair and violence of township life.
The township keeps doing what it was designed to do: devour its own children. A place shaped by deliberate neglect, where dreams are born against the odds, but too many lives are swallowed before they ever get the chance to flourish.

Many speech-delayed children grasp English first because media, educational apps, and speech therapy materials are predominantly in English. It’s not a parenting failure, it’s a developmental stage shaped by their environment.

My foreign brothers and sisters living in South Africa, it is time we stop pretending that this problem will solve itself. South Africa is a country, not a refuge for an entire continent that has given up on fixing its own problems. We cannot all abandon our countries, run to South Africa and expect South Africans to carry the consequences of our governments’ failures. South Africans fought for their freedom in 1994. What is stopping us from going home, voting, challenging corrupt leaders and fighting for better governments? How long are we going to keep running away while our countries fall apart? We are putting so much pressure on South Africa that we risk destroying one of the few remaining places people still run to for opportunities. And when South Africa reaches breaking point, where exactly are we going to go? Europe? America? Another African country already struggling with the same problems? We cannot keep exporting our problems from one African country to another and expect the continent to prosper. Genuine asylum seekers deserve protection, and criminality should never be attributed to an entire nationality. But those of us who have the freedom to return home must ask ourselves some uncomfortable questions. If every African who is unhappy with their government runs away instead of fighting for change, who will be left to fix those countries? We cannot all be refugees from our own responsibilities while expecting someone else’s country to survive the burden. Go home. Vote. Demand better. Fight for your country. Because if we destroy every place we run to instead of fixing the places we come from, eventually, there will be nowhere left to run.

BBC News, I am a foreigner living in South Africa, and I believe your reporting is doing an injustice to this country when you highlight violence against foreigners without giving equal attention to the serious crime that fuels public frustration. As a foreigner, I refuse to pretend that crime committed by other foreigners is not a problem simply because I am one of them. My nationality does not require me to defend wrongdoing, and my empathy for foreigners does not require me to dismiss the legitimate concerns of South Africans. There are reports of foreign nationals implicated in drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal drug laboratories and cable theft. A foreign national was also reportedly involved in running over a Crime Intelligence specialist. These incidents deserve serious scrutiny and consistent reporting, too. If BBC News can report when a foreigner is beaten to death, it should also report on crimes committed against South Africans, regardless of the perpetrator’s nationality. If you believe violence against foreigners deserves international attention, surely the victims of crimes committed by foreigners deserve that same attention. Accountability cannot be selective. Human rights apply to everyone, and so must the law. Let me be clear: beating someone to death is indefensible, and no crime justifies mob justice. But condemning mob violence must not become an excuse to avoid discussing crime, immigration enforcement and the failures that leave communities feeling unsafe. South Africans deserve safety, and foreigners who commit crimes must face the law. These positions are not contradictory. Do not use the death of one person to silence an entire country’s concerns. Report the killing, condemn the violence, and give the broader issue of crime the same seriousness. That is what fair and responsible journalism should look like.

Here is the recipe for Gemmer, Ginger beer: 🥰 20 litre bucket 2 big pineapples 2 kg Brown sugar 2x50 g Ground ginger powder 50g Cream of Tartar 100g raisins Method: 1) Pour all ingredients in the bucket 2) Cut the pineapple peels/rind and thrown with the dry ingredients 3) Pour 2 kettles of boiling water and stir, mix together 4) Pour boiling water half the bucket stir 5) Then fill the bucket with cold water 6) Cover, leave it for 3 to 4 days. Only open it on the 3rd day to stir and see if it's starting to make bubbles 7) On the 5/6 day sift with a clean white cloth 8) Put in bottles and refrigerate From the 7th day onwards, you must be careful when you open it because it can spill, burst. You open it slowly. 😅 Don't leave it the bucket, take everything out. You can go impress your mamazalas, inlaws during December holidays 😊❤️
One of the things I enjoy doing in summer is making my late mother gemmer, ginger beer recipe. 😊👌🏽 I bottle it in 2ltr bottles, and give some to friends. It's the whole raisins, pineapple recipe that you leave to ferment for 4 to 5 days. The kind you were not allowed to make during Covid. 😂
