I have to give a shout out to the homie @Science_Social2 for putting me on to this scholar Dr. Valethia Watkins of Howard University. This is the first time I've heard feminism/anti-feminism articulated this way. I'll put the YouTube link to the presentation on the next tweet.
First off... LA Taco been on some bullshit for a minute. So this may have been a blessing.
I did not want to do this, but they called me out. substack.com/@memotorres/not…

Sharing a vetted ask for a Black organizer in CT falsely arrested while doing beautification work after a white woman harassed the workers and accused them of “disturbing the peace.” Goal is $1k for legal/court fees. I donated $100. Pls share & support 🖤

This is such pathetic shilling. She's been a member of city council this whole time and didn't achieve any of these goals. She missed a huge number of votes, some on these topics!
This is dumb. For one she ain't even progressive. Second, NYC Mayor and LA Mayor do not have the same roles or the same jurisdiction. Nithya has more power as a Councilmember. But because ppl don't know LA civics they think that unaccomplished bum is really gonna do shit.
Nithya Raman really is running to be the Zohran Mamdani of L.A.
Someone who is pretty far left, but also technocratic, results-focused, and intent on dismantling the city's machine politics. And also aggressively pro-housing.
If she wins, I wonder what other big cities could see candidates with this brand of politics pop up.

Take it from Councilwoman Imelda Padilla, Los Angeles needs a mayor who is willing to work with every City Councilmember to deliver lasting results for Angelenos.
I’m committed to working together with our city leaders and constituents to keep moving Los Angeles forward and ensure our city is ready for the 2028 Olympics!
Make your plan to vote now and get your ballot in on or before Election Day on November 3rd!

This is the norm. I worked in housing services for a nonprofit in Oregon for 10y. The job was seeking housing for families, many not white. When I met a landlord or agent alone so often they'd be really open & enthusiastic about whoever I was representing until they saw the name.
🚨 BREAKING: A Black couple showed up to tour an apartment in Queens... and the broker accidentally texted THEM instead of the owner: "Ugh. They are Black."
They'd just moved from Delaware for her new job. Now they're SUING Douglas Elliman, the agent AND the owners.
"It doesn't change the pain. It doesn't take away the pain you caused us that day."
Think about it. They were judged before they even had a chance.
They only found out because she texted the wrong person. Most people never do.
I just started watching The Drop today and I gotta say I really like it so far.
I'm glad to see good writing still exists.
Also... Lamar looks like those producers and DJs that used to be at Project Blowed.
For those that don't know.... This is part of the #DestinationCrenshaw project.
