This is the canary in the coal mine, y'all. The AI math doesn't math. Microsoft is offering buyouts for nearly a quarter of it's workforce. AI adoption for businesses is a 24-month journey in a perfect scenario. They aren't seeing adoption fast enough to offset their CapEx spending... and they aren't alone. Add Anthropic's measly revenue numbers (compared to their CapEx), and hopefully you get the point. These aren't buyouts because Microsoft found efficiencies with AI, they are buyouts because they (the AI industry) spend trillions (collectively) building the best tools the world has ever seen, and no one knows how to use them. digitalmeld.io/blog/who-is-p…
BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

Not sure if people grasp where we are. Trump has psychologically primed his ideological stakeholders well enough that anything he says can be justified. If he signals for the necessity of violence, the conditions are already in place. Genocide scholars will recognize this.
The president of the United States told Nicki Minaj to stand up so everyone could see her ass…and she did it 🫩🫩🫩

I think there should be more artistic collaboration across the board with SA, they have a very great appreciation for good music.

Social contexts become embodied, yet the social context & processes that shape us often need to be illuminated before we can even begin to *articulate* how they're shaping us. Even then, apathy, disbelief & inaction often endure. This is always a crazy thought to me.

It's quite odd that Anthropic can consistently threaten people's jobs, livelihoods, and humanity without people actively seeking to destroy the company. Either this is bullshit marketing, or the many Americans have surrendered to "inescapable" technological determinism.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

The Guardian says Sierra Leone is a narco state. The numbers say otherwise. - About 2 homicides per 100,000 people, against a global average of 6.1 - 8th most peaceful country in Africa (Global Peace Index 2026) - The UN Office on Drugs and Crime puts the global average at 6.1 per 100,000, and Africa's at 13. Drug offences recorded by Salone police in 2025? 448 cases, mostly kush, tramadol and cannabis. Cocaine cases were low. - The UK government's own investment arm is still putting money into Sierra Leone Crime is rising, and we should say so. But a crime problem is not a narco state. Why I disagree with the Guardian and many of my friends: vickieremoe.com/blog/2026/10…

In 2025, my org @BLAMCharity published a landmark report that found “84% of Black people had experienced multiple forms of racism and colourism in the English school system” . No major newspapers wanted to cover this report and we received no responses from the Government about it. Read here- blamuk.org/wp-content/upload…
BREAKING: A landmark government report is set to reveal the vast scale of antisemitism in English schools and colleges, Sky News can exclusively reveal. The report, written by former schools inspector Sir David Bell, will on Wednesday set out 27 recommendations to create change.

I wrote my first ever investigative journalism piece for @TheCanaryUK on cults targeting Black British Christians. They would always cover many important stories I had when nowhere else would! Very sad day. thecanary.co/long-read/2025/…
The Canary will be closed for the foreseeable future. As of today (Monday 19 October), the Canary will be closed indefinitely. After multiple attacks this year, from Lloyds debanking us to former employees spreading malicious lies on social media, the situation has become unsustainable, both financially and operationally. After 11 years, we take this action with deep sadness and regret. The extent of the lies, defamation, and harassment by ex-staff - coupled with the constant attacks by the state and those who’d see us destroyed - has become too much. However, it is not over. This week, we will publish what really happened at the Canary and push back against the vicious campaign against our team and us. We may be down, but we’re not out yet.
