Seems like, my work got shown on Timesquare NYC today 😍Another milestone i never imagined would happen😍#indiedev #createdwithcore
I tracked every new Fortnite map that hit the NEW row from Aug 31 to Oct 23. (20,000+ maps, hour by hour.)
How a launch goes: → ~40 minutes in NEW → players spike, then leave → 1 in 4 maps lands in a genre row ~2 hours after the spike, when most of the players are already gone → genre rows sort by live players, so it drops out again within hours
Epic's own docs say: "Islands that perform well graduate from the testing pipeline."
So I checked.
I took the new maps that performed well by Epic's own stats: top 25% for playtime, favorites and recommendations, launched with 100+ players, no Sponsored. 167 maps. All of them dead within a week.
Good engagement does help early. New maps in the top 25% for playtime, favorites and recommendations kept their players to day 3 more often. By day 7 that edge is gone.
Discover doesn't graduate new maps. It sorts the ones that already have players. @FNCreate @HaroldAtEpic
There is so much more I can say which makes things even worse.

Games in Epics picks do bad after being 24 hours a day for 7 days strait and after they leave they downrank almost immediately, and you expect us to do well with 10 mins in new. We just want to make a good game and the algorithm to push our game like it was doing the first year.
I understand the concern. At a high level, we want to put updated modes directly in the player’s path.
In the player’s library (the heart icon at the top), players can already see recently updated games from creators they follow.
For other updated titles, we highlight them within existing rows rather than in a dedicated “Updated” row. We think players are more likely to engage with updates in rows they already visit than in a row of unrelated games.
With these changes, updated titles actually get far more surface area across Discover.
We started communicating this during Fest in the summer, and have since posted it in our EDC forum posts.

all this work to update dozens of dead maps with a portrait thumbnail for a carousel where only 0.01% of creators will be featured…. I guess I’m never updating my maps lol 😭
Reminder: Starting tomorrow, portrait thumbnails, landscape thumbnails, and logos will be required to publish or update your island.

As a player, I am enjoying Roblox more for finding new things to play.
Roblox’s Discover experience is far superior to Fortnite’s, and it all starts with what players see when they load in.
Players open Roblox to:
• Recommended For You - A couple of ads and recommendations based on their play history.
• Continue - Their recently played games.
• Standout Games - Their equivalent of Epic’s Picks, which rotates daily.
If players scroll down, it's more recommendations. Players have to click Charts to see the most popular games.
That actually gives players a chance to discover things before force feeding them what’s already popular. Not to mention Roblox keeps the search bar easily accessible and visible at the top.
Players open Fortnite to:
• A massive promo - A full screen of what Epic WANTS you to play.
• Continue Playing - Their recently played games.
• For You - Supposedly based on your play history, yet the first three games are the ones Epic is already heavily promoting.
• Top 10 - The same games Epic has been force feeding players through all their Discover “improvements.”
Instead of actually fixing Discover, all @FNCreate did was make a more complicated and less user friendly version of the same thing we have had for years.
Basically, an overwhelming experience the moment players launch Fortnite.
If Epic can’t figure out that improving Discover takes more than constantly changing its UI, I am afraid they will never become a UGC platform capable of competing with Roblox.
This is concerning as I am afraid UEFN will continue to lose creators as Discoverability continues to be an issue.

We cant just allow 'horror props' to become a horror genre when updating 1v1s. This is so disingenuous and clearly an attempt to snipe the new collection. Deal with it @FNCreate
Wdym if they continue?? Just ban them gosh 🤦♂️

To be clear, these types of islands are not allowed.
If developers continue breaking these rules, we'll take further action, including penalties against their accounts.
Thats the competition we want too see! Funny how humans barely improve themselves or their work until they face a competition xD
Steam just got a little faster.
Valve has released a new Steam update that improves startup performance. In a user test, Steam launched in 5.23 seconds, beating the 5.47 seconds claimed by Epic “vibe-coded” launcher
Now Steam has pushed a major update and is faster than epic games
>Improved startup performance
>New Big Picture features
>A new screensaver system, including the classic bouncing Steam logo
>Steam Controller improvements
> Several Linux improvements and fixes
>A new experimental video codec for Remote Play
>Lots of smaller fixes and quality-of-life improvements
Fortnite Removed ~45,000 Islands in a recent Ban Wave
• These were duplicate/spam & scam islands
• 707 accounts belonging to spammers banned
• Alt accounts used to dodge bans are now better detected
• 81K+ spam islands have been removed since March
Epic says enforcement keeps improving as spammers find new methods

IM LITERALLY CRYING 🥹
Almost a year ago when Ballistic got removed, I was going through the roughest time of my life.
Not only because a mode I geninuly enjoyed got removed but a Project I was working on got cancelled and a Family Member got really sick.
8 Months later the Family Member recovered and the project I put Hearth and Soul in reached Homebar
THANKS SO MUCH ♥️

Hey @FNCreate,
Hopped into UEFN for the first time in a few weeks to address something on one of my solo projects.
I was immediately hit with 200+ moderation warnings for “Align with Fortnite’s Game Rating.”
What were they for?
Icons I imported of Fortnite weapons because Scene Graph hasn’t been reliable enough for me to trust it to display them properly and consistently.
These aren't outside assets. They're icons of weapons that already exist in the game, I just reimported them so they will display reliably.
So I took the screenshot, made this post, closed UEFN, and went back to working on my Roblox project.
I love creating in Fortnite, but it’s becoming harder and harder to justify fighting the platform just to build.

Hi guys! I would like to share with all of you a bit sad news and even ask for support...
My wife, the person behind the @GelosGames_uefn account, Katy is in pretty urgent need of open abdominal surgery and because it was pre-existing condition our health insurance won't cover cost.
She was on very long back and forth checks and long wait list that her situation escalated and after we moved to Malaysia and did all tests now we got a whole picture of how serious it's.
There is even possibility that it could be cancerous, which only we know after surgery and we hope it isn't...
So if you would be able to support her... us... you can donate any amount you can on her Go Fund Me page gofundme.com/f/after-years-o… because in current situation we will struggle with surgery and post-surgery costs.
Please if you can share and like this post for visibility.
Thanks! 🙏
Thank you for reporting our island! I mean, it passed Epic Pick content review and nothing changed since then... But cool to see it gets taken down for no reason!
This ecosystem is getting better and better!
Amongst spammers, bugs and roblox copies we also have a toxic community!

Just ban the creators and their alts...
We are tired of waiting on you to find a new way to punish the players and creators acting in good faith, instead of actually taking out the trash...

We're investigating this case and will take action + remove content that breaks the rules. We're also working on additional measures to address and prevent spam.

An hour of development in UEFN is actually 2-3 hours of actual time (not counting afk or using other apps while waiting). Here is what takes away from it (with a beast PC and 1Gbps connection):
- Renaming a file in content browser (3-8ish secs)
- Moving a file in content browser (same)
- Deleting a file in content browser (same)
- Opening live edit (1-6 mins)
- Crashes (??? mins)
- Starting the project (3-10mins)
- Any edit that desyncs live edit, like landscape editing, scene graph and verse editables change (1-6 mins)
- Closing unnecessary popup windows that constantly spam the editor (2-3 secs)
- Placing a blueprint or FortPlaysetItemDefinition in viewport (0.3-0.5 secs per case)
- Migrating content UEFN to UEFN (6-20 mins)
- Checking memory (7 mins)
- Moving player to test area, or camera to player (5 secs)
- Fixing UEFN grids after restart (4 secs)
- Falling and flying back up because player jump didnt trigger in edit mode (4 secs/case)
- Closing extra asset windows in UEFN (1-2 secs/window)
- Reopening texture data dropdown on architecture (2 secs/case added since a few updates back - roughly 40-60 occurrences per working session)
1) Most of what is listed above should not take more than 1 second, to match other editors, and we are in the minutes in some
2) In a usual "1-hour" session, there are around 2k-3k edits for level design, so multiply bullet 9 (0.4 x 2500 = 1000 secs taken away just waiting on things to spawn on viewport alone)
I would love to sit down with Epic and create an initiative to speed up the editor. I sent messages about that multiple times before, and every time I was told those fixes are "low priority"
So don't talk to me about time, because really its your weakness as an editor; it's in fact, the slowest editor I've used in my career, by a long shot.
If you want to fix it, my DMs are open

Most relabtable thing Ive heard in my 8 Years of doing Creative/ UEFN.
We have this problem in UEFN where the most basic things do not work properly or dont even exist.
As substitues we get devices or unfinished features.
It get increasly more frustrating that we never get a finished base feature but rather jump from unfinished to unfinished.

Honestly, I just need a toolset that motivates me to build. UEFN has slowly moved away from UGC and went into gamedev, and in the process made everything require x5 effort to do, all to overcome technical hurdles met by the engine’s architecture. I was here to realize a project in 2 weeks, now we are back to 1 month, with many unknowns. I dont care about scene graph or verse, I just need an easy way to build and now thats not an option. Stability still an issue, devices are now being deprecated without an alternative for artists, no spaces for wide audiences in the platform, always launch new tools in beta so we cant do polished games with them, its like you want us out of UEFN at this point. Please hire a platform lead to bring back what we had on UEFN launch, a space where creators could build anything they imagined and share it with an audience, also let the audience pick not force an algo on them, just look how Nike was demolished by “being safe” and following data, its exactly what happened to discoverability in the space. Just look at how many content creators are covering UEFN, and check how many did Creative and you will understand how unfun the space has gotten.
