Grateful to contribute to research shaping the future of malaria control. Thanks to @MARCAD7 @mrcunitgambia #Malaria #GlobalHealth #InfectiousDiseases #MalariaResearch
New research led by @ndeyfa2, a PhD student @LSHTM, shows malaria drug resistance isn’t driven by a single mutation, but a complex combination of genetic changes that help parasites with legacy mutations survive newer treatments.

It was a pleasure welcoming these children as part of #WorldMalariaDay. It was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the roles of entomologists and parasitologists, (specialties that were largely unknown to them) in the fight against #Malaria.
@OwsdSecretariat, @MARCAD7
For #WorldMalariaDay , Dr Oumou Kalsom Gueye #MARCADPlus postdoctoral fellow, hosted an open day at @UCAD_Senegal for students from Cosmopolitan Bilingual School, an inspiring immersion into #malaria research.

Did you know only the female Anopheles mosquito can transmit #malaria?
They need blood 🩸 to lay their eggs and that’s how the parasite spreads to humans.
Here are 3 things to know:
🌙 They usually bite in the evening or at night often while you’re sleeping
💧 They breed close to home in water like ponds, puddles and rice fields
🦟 When they rest on a wall, their abdomen sticks up like a handstand

Did you know?
For decades, medical research and treatment plans have focused mainly on men, leaving women out of the picture.
It’s time to flip the script—women shouldn’t be an afterthought in healthcare.
Let’s change the status quo. Here’s how you can lead the way!

Today, as we celebrate the #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsInScience, we recognise that across Africa, women are doing more than just "breaking glass ceilings." They are building the very foundations of scientific sovereignty, from data stewardship and research governance to life-saving genomic surveillance.
As highlighted in Dr @EvelynGitau's recent op-ed: "Women are not only advancing scientific discovery; they are building the governance, data stewardship, and public trust that make science durable, sovereign, and impactful."
