Had Tom Cruise instead gotten his hands on the script for Behemoth!, he’d be a Best Actor lock.

In honor of Justin Verlander’s last hurrah…. A photographic blast from the past! Taken at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival (go figure). I told him to have a great season, and he did — unfortunately, it ended up being with the Astros.

There is nothing wrong with this.
Emmys In Memoriam report: I wish they would have done clips instead of still photos. Bask in the nostalgia! Impressed they squeezed in Bob Mackie. Omissions: Patrick Muldoon, Nicholas Brendon, Grizz Chapman, Chuck Norris (?)
Wrong usage of “bucket list” but whatever. Film X, please: stop reading about Nathan Felder’s movie. Go in fresh. Pretend it’s 1999 and you’re about to see a Sixth Sense/Fight Club double feature.
If you had a Nathan Fielder-directed documentary about Elizabeth Holmes on your 2026 bucket list, congratulations.

Just caught the amazing You Can See Everything at the Telluride Film Festival and all I can really say is…:: this tease does not even begin to prepare you.
It takes a lot for me to come inside with this view! But The Show at the Telluride Film Festival this year has been top-notch. The Debut, The Liberation, Elsinore, Wild Horse Nine et al probably mean nothing to average moviegoer now but they will for sure come awards season. ❤️
I think this is my favorite Dolly tribute yet.
I found this cover interesting. I know it’s Time Magazine but it’s also a reminder that time is not promised to us and we should do all we can do to be good to each other with the time that we are given.
And I believe Dolly did just that. Her kindness like her music walked into rooms that she was never in, soothing and calming and just making life better. Thank you for being not only an incredible artist but also an authentic soul who cared about humanity in such a special way. I’ve always admired you and you will be missed especially as this world grows colder.

Happy 100th birthday, Mel Brooks! 🌟
May the Schwartz be with you today and every day!
Oh I’m so sad! I just interviewed James Burrows in December about how to direct a Christmas sitcom episode. First sentence: “It didn’t matter. I’m a Jew.”

Every entertainment journalist has a story like this
'Meet the Press' moderator Kristen Welker went out to Wisconsin to interview the president. As the rain poured down on the barn where they sat, the stakes ratcheted up by the second until Trump lost his composure and stormed out.
Welker gives @aidnmclaughlin a look behind the scenes: vanityfair.com/story/trump-s…
When did we first see this technology?
Answer: back in 2013.
In the movie “Her”
🚨BREAKING: Apple’s next AirPods will have cameras built into them.
Not for photography. The cameras are designed to feed visual information directly to Siri, turning your earbuds into an eyes-on AI assistant that understands what is in front of you.
Point them at your fridge and ask what to cook. Walk into a room and ask what you are looking at. Siri sees what you see.
A privacy LED will light up whenever visual data is being transmitted, so there is always a visible signal when the cameras are active.
Enhanced Siri arrives in September. Production on the camera AirPods is already underway.

Do you realize how insane this stat is for May sweeps?!?!
Before a screening of White Oleander in 2002, I opened a bag of vending machine animal crackers and dug in. Rex Reed turned around, shot me a heated look and sneered, “Are you going to be doing that the whole movie?!” Proud to get a negative review from the great! RIP
Rex Reed, a critic and journalist known for his brash takes on films, died Tuesday at his Manhattan home. He was 87.
Reed’s reviews were featured in publications like The New York Times, GQ, Esquire, and Vogue. He penned a column in the New York Observer over the last four decades.

You know what else legit lost a plot? “‘Michael.”
We’ve legit lost the plot. I honestly have zero idea what people are looking for these days but there needs to be a major shift in criticism. The movie I saw was well written, well directed, beautifully shot, insanely well performed and the sound was amazing. Are we “film” critics or not. We’re supposed to help paint the picture of what an audience can anticipate and this score is not even close to that picture, objectively.

One of my first memories of being alive is seeing “Airplane” and sobbing uncontrollably because I thought it was all real and the plane would crash. I had to be taken out of the theater. I still have a little PTSD watching it. Glad all those passengers were OK!!!
