I think we need to start gatekeeping these people out of the Apple community. Their understanding of Apple’s core philosophies and internal structure are incredibly ahistorical and oversimplified.
It’s sad to see Apple lose its design vision and taste. And I doubt it will ever get them back.
The problem is simple. In a company as big as Apple, it’s almost impossible for someone from design to become CEO.
We were lucky to see what happens when a company is defined by someone who thinks like a designer, not just a great salesperson, manager, or engineer.
So designers - build more. Create more. Start companies. Be CEOs.
People are posting shit about Apple with zero historical knowledge. Apple basically ALWAYS “paywalls” a new design or feature platform at first. The original Retina MacBook Pro was more expensive than regular ones. The 2021 redesigned MBP first only came with Pro and Max but no…
What? In what world would that make sense? Windows 8 got shit not for supporting Touch but for redesigning a desktop OS all around it. How the fuck is optional Touch Input with basic UX optimizations around it in macOS anything close to that?!
Stupid and objectively wrong. Every other fucking Mac ever made, including most of the current lineup is Touchscreen free AND cheaper. What fucking “base price” has gone up here?

People complaining about “confusing” Apple lineups have clearly never looked up the product portfolios of literally all other tech companies or they think everyone else is a lobotomized monkey who buys $5000 laptops without doing any prior research.
Maybe the people getting it at launch at the highest prices. I promise that most people won’t. Why disable it when you can just NOT touch it. It’s not like it has any other disadvantages.

People are getting WEIRD AF about the Touchscreen on the new #MacBookPro
It doesn’t get mentioned enough what a crazy amount of software effort it must be to handle so many UX-changing launches at once. I hope that between 27.2 and 27.4 Apple’s software team can just focus on refining all this stuff (and maybe bringing Siri AI to the EU 😜)
I don’t even like this Russian guy but these are way more reasonable tests than anything JerryRugEverything does. How the fuck did he ever came up with “But what if I put a lighter to my screen” 🤦♂️
This is a legitimately insane take by Gurman. What else is Apple supposed to do? They said it only affects a limited number of devices (unless he is implying they are lying) and giving replacements when they can, which is not easy with the current supply constraints.
Bloomberg's @markgurman says the iPhone Duo screen-cracking issues are real and that the way Apple has handled them has been a dumpster fire:
Why should those hardware improvements change “when and how you use” the new #iPadmini? Why isn’t doing the same thing but better enough like it is on smartphones?
Feels like people are finding the strangest attack vectors these days to justify their permanent negativity.
iPad mini OLED Hands-On: A Delectable Cupcake of a Tablet: It looks better than ever, it's more powerful than ever, and none of that will likely change when and how you use it. gizmodo.com/ipad-mini-oled-2…
