Today we went and presented to @AklCouncil with our @all_aboard_akl allies about the urgency needed to decarbonise Auckland's transport by 2030. Here's how it went down: stuff.co.nz/environment/clim…

Some good news last week - after we raised safety concerns w a proposed new traffic signal at Makora & Triangle Roads in Massey (plan below) and met with AT about it - AT have now confirmed that the new signal will be on a raised table to slow down dangerous turns in particular!

An 80% reduction in fatalities from low cost safety measures. Doing this all over the country is far more effective, faster and cheaper than a handful of 4-lane expressways. Thanks @JulieAnneGenter for pushing for this last term. i.stuff.co.nz/national/30021…

There are some undulations in the Tamaki Drive cycleway surface. As the cycleway looked complete and the defect didn’t create a safety issue we opened it over the holidays. The contractor will fix this at no additional cost and we will let you know when dates have been confirmed.

Maybe they could look at Gold Coast or Central Sydney. Why is this so hard. I’m so frustrated.

This is fucked. Landlord harassing tenants by calling their boss and only gets a $1000 fine. There needs to be legal limits on the private information landlords can extract from tenants and proper punishment for criminal landlords i.stuff.co.nz/life-style/hom…

Wrapping up Friday with more good news. The proposed cycle link on East Street will be going ahead, with 86% support in the recent consultation. Construction will start in mid-January. This was my first consultation I've been responsible, so thanks to those who submitted!

Auckland's Southern Corridor Cycleway has been under construction for absolutely ages...BUT I am reliably informed by @BikeAKL that it is opening in March 2021 & there will be celebrations. Very useful connection...now we just need to extend it all the way into the city centre.

If it makes a difference there's a significant number of white nz's that hate every vitriolic syllable that drips off their festered tongue. If we knew how to stop them we would. I don't think I've seen a single post from them that wasn't a dagger in the heart of humanity.

"In other words, the Government has just committed to reducing less than 1 percent of the country's emissions by 2025". Text explaining New Zealand's so-called climate emergency declaration. This is of course nothing unique to any nation. #FightFor1Point5 newsroom.co.nz/what-if-we-cr…

I was today years old when I learned that bikes are feminist. Don’t understand how that can be the case? Here’s a thread explaining why.

With its flat terrain, town centres and great parks, Māngere could be cycling nirvana… But there's no safe cycle network to link it all up. Have your say today! AT’s consultation is open until December 13th. Our quick submit guide is here: bikeauckland.org.nz/quick-su…

The demand for Brexit arose from the Pollution Paradox: The more damaging the enterprise, the more money it must spend on politics to ensure it’s not regulated out of existence. As a result, politics comes to be dominated by the most harmful companies and oligarchs.
