I'm old, and this is exactly how things feel right now. Patriarchy is one hell of a drug, and too many men are still telling us it isn't real.
A round of high fives to Drey and everyone else who is keeping tabs on the behind the scenes bullshit! #Election2026
The FEC's campaign-finance filing system went dark overnight, a week before the midterms, after what an internal email calls an attempted breach. That's the system that tells the public who's paying for all the political ads flooding your feed right now.
I went into their own code to see what actually happened, and what I found is a lot worse than a system glitch.

The divide we're facing in #Election2026 is between those who have a soul and still give a shit, and whatever the maga cult is morphing into. #VoteBlue2026
RFK Jr goes full white supremacist in supporting GOP's Mike Rogers for Senate saying "Arabs Don’t Produce Literature,’ Only ‘Hatred’ and ‘War." Of course that's BS. BUT key is RFK said this to help Rogers win --will media call on Rogers to denounce it?! mediaite.com/politics/rfk-jr…

When you turn the Dems Are Bringing Illegals In To Vote bullshit upside down, you get this!
NEW: Scott Presler allowed multiple out of state GOP operatives to use his home in Pennsylvania to vote in the '24 election. Those operatives then left the state. Election lawyers say this could be in violation of PA voting laws.

Inter-species friendships are the best! #FridayVibes
🦧🦦 A Belgian zoo introduced a gang of otters to its orangutans to keep them from getting bored. And then all hell broke loose!
At Pairi Daiza Zoo in Belgium, staff came up with an unusual idea: let a family of Asian small-clawed otters share a habitat with the giant ginger orangutans.
And it turned out to be a brilliant idea! The little furry troublemakers started climbing out of the water, pestering the orangutans, and challenging them to play. And the orangutans happily joined in!
An orangutan named Ujian and his son Berani became especially close friends with the otters.
In 2020, photos of this adorable and unlikely friendship went viral around the world.
Oh fuck this shit.
Armed and in uniform, federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security have been knocking on doors in several states to ask residents about their immigration status — and to inquire if they have registered to vote or cast votes in past elections, a CBS News Investigation has found. cbsnews.com/news/federal-age…

I absolutely LOVE the current slate of Senate candidates who truly represent their states. @AbdulElSayed in MI, @jamestalarico in TX, and Mary in Alaska are my faves!

We have always had important, strong strategic relations with the United States of America. Our bilateral relationship began developing particularly actively during the full-scale war. I am grateful for all the support.
But we have always built our relationship on honesty, fairness, and, most importantly, transparency. Because when you lie while your people are at war, it is very painful. That is why I have always wanted to hide nothing and never lie to the President of the United States. In any case, we have more in common than America does with Russia. Most people in Ukraine and the United States of America understand this. We would like to continue having the same open, honest, and pragmatic relations with America that we have today.
The position is very simple. We support a mutual energy ceasefire. If we are talking about the idea that we should not strike back at Russian energy facilities after they strike our gas, electricity, oil – everything. The Russians are striking. America cannot stop them. Let's believe that America really wants to, but cannot. Then, as a partner, I am willing to meet President Trump halfway: if they strike us and we cannot strike back – that is neither honest nor fair – but if this is what you need, if you cannot rein Putin in, then give us interceptor missiles so I can protect our energy infrastructure. You couldn't stop Putin – but you helped Ukraine.

Ok who's giving out bug resin to trick-or-treaters this year? 🎃
The shine on candy corn is bug resin. Brach's calls it confectioner's glaze.
The bag reads sugar, corn syrup, then 2% or less of salt, dextrose, confectioner's glaze (shellac), gelatin, honey, artificial flavors, sesame oil, Yellow 5, Yellow 6 and Red 40.
Shellac is what a lac insect leaves on tree branches in India and Thailand. It gets scraped off the bark, cleaned, dissolved in alcohol and tumbled over the candy, and it dries into the same hard coat that goes on a hardwood floor. That's the shine, and it's why the pieces don't glue themselves together in the bag. The gelatin is pork or beef collagen, there for the chew. The honey Brach's puts on the front of the bag is under 2%, behind the salt.
Bags on shelves this fall list Red 40. Last year's listed Red 3, which FDA pulled from food in January 2025 with a 2027 deadline. Brach's says it makes about 7 billion kernels a year.
