Ciara Mageean died this morning. A light has gone out in the world. Authentic, talented, decent. Her kindness and wonderful personality was a joy to watch and see. Then came her iconic sporting achievements.
When we sat down with Ciara for the GAA Social in July, she received disappointing news the day before. Ciara didn’t want to cancel, so we recorded on the Tuesday. It’s 90 minutes Oisin & myself will always treasure. She was the best of us.
To Thomas, I’m so sorry. She was mad about you. To the Mageean family, all her great friends and the Portaferry community- what a stunning human being, to call one of your own. This is so unfair.
I’ve never met a person who met Ciara, who didn’t love her. A one off.

Martinez is a disgrace.
1. Didn’t put a glove on Rogers for the first goal.
2. Then, later in the half, tried to take Rogers down and failed.
3. Further lack of discipline for the penalty, and like the Solanke goal a few weeks ago, wasn’t even looking at the ball.
Pathetic. #MUFC

Urgent Family Appeal: Mother of Missing 18-Year-Old Stacey Mcenery Says “My Heart Is Broken”
Family members are appealing for help locating 18-year-old Stacey Mcenery, who has been missing for more than 24 hours in circumstances described as out of character.
Stacey left home wearing a puffy white jacket and may have boarded a train towards Dublin to meet someone unknown to her family. Relatives say they are extremely worried and have asked anyone with information to contact them or the Gardai
Her mother Sharon Duffin has posted an emotional update saying she is struggling to cope and that her daughter is “my world.” She continued, Our hearts are broken. This is out of character for her. She knows how much I’m broken. Hopefully she will ring me and tell me come get her. I will jump. Stacey girl you’re not in trouble, but my heart is broken in…”
Stacey is described as having long wavy dark reddish-brown hair and visible tattoos on her arms (including butterfly designs) and upper chest. She was last known to be wearing the white puffy jacket.
Anyone who may have seen her, particularly on trains to Dublin or in the Dublin area, is asked to contact the family through the numbers or people named above, or to report information to local Gardaí or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

My daughter recently missed her train to Maynooth. A local taxi driver upon learning she'd miss her lectures, took it upon himself to get her to collage, an hours drive away, at no charge! Paul Nevin of Nevins Taxis Longford you are an absolute hero and a pure gentleman! 🥹🙏

No signalling issues today just the daily struggles of a commuter availing of a completely unacceptable service😡🤯

Everyone heard the racist chants from Israeli fans towards an Irish player, and now comes the predictable attempt to cast themselves as the victims.
Shameless.

On a week where the FAI rightfully took some flack, their Communications Officer, Kieran Crowley, deserves massive praise for handling this so well.
The "journalists" on the other side here are shambolic. Typical propaganda. #COYBIG

Incredible respect for Ireland Press Officer, Kieran Crowley for calling out the utterly disrespectful Israeli reporter in eralier's Ireland press conference.

Man City’s Disguised Funding Scheme:
Sponsorship Fees:
Season - Total (Actually Paid)
2009/10 - £27.0m (£4.5m)
2010/11 - £41.25m (£12.75m)
2011/12 - £86.75m (£16.0m)
2012/13 - £121.75m (£16.0m)
2013/14 - £127.5m (£16.0m)
2014/15 - £123.2m (£16.0m)
2015/16 - £136.17 (£16.0m)
2016/17 - £140.59 (£11.0m)
2017/18 - £145.73m (£11.0m)
Total - £949.94m (£119.25m)
So sponsors were only liable for the £119.25m total figure, with the £830.69m additional shareholder funding disguised as ‘commercial partner revenue’.

This is disgraceful & ignorant. Oliver had the chance to speak to any of us who were there beside him all night to help explain some of the context and sentiment. He didn’t. Unlike another colleague from the UK who made a point of talking to us, Oliver sat alone and wrote this.
"There was no handshake, no customary exchange of pennants. And once it was finally time for some football, the team wore black armbands designed as a gesture of “recognition of all lives lost in the Gaza conflict”. The messaging was, to put it politely, a mess."

Here is the head of a division in the Israeli Ministry of Defence saying that they should activate the pagers in Ireland, similar to what they did in Lebanon in 2024.
And they say that any criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic....

It was confirmed to me this morning by a prominent football journalist informed by a former FAI board member that the UK-based player agency Unique Sports Group (@UniqueSG) threatened the Irish players yesterday that they'd never play for US-owned UK clubs if they refused to play
