big match gimmick against guy that ended bayern’s dictatorship without a loss
Xabi Alonso in big matches as a manager:
❌ 0-2 vs Spurs
❌ 1-2 vs Arsenal
❌ 2-3 vs Barcelona
✅ 2-1 vs Atlético Madrid
❌ 1-2 vs Man City
❌ 0-1 vs Liverpool
✅ 2-1 vs Barcelona
❌ 2-5 vs Atlético Madrid
❌ 0-4 vs PSG
❌ 2-4 vs Dortmund
❌ 0-2 vs Bayern
❌ 0-3 vs Bayern
❌ 0-4 vs Liverpool
❌ 0-3 vs Atalanta
14 big matches. 2 wins. 12 losses.
Embarrassing.

Chelsea fans need to understand we finished 10th in the league last year & things won't change overnight & let me tell you this, we will LOSE more games but definitely win a lot more too. Support both high & lows. Stop yapping only when we win & be a glory hunter. UTC XABI IN

we’re coming from a 5-1 & 0-2 win against bournemouth & everton respectively. but look at the harsh smoke alonso, palmer & the players are getting just after one loss all in the name of ‘criticism’ lol
what i’m seeing on my tl is not criticism
Arteta 6 years & Klopp 5 years to win prem. probably took 3 years each for them to challenge for it
Xabi been here 5mins😂 CFC fans will never ever learn. Its fine though get rid of him👍🏾 whose the next flavour? Looks like Fabian H this season theyll ask for him next😂👏🏾

Obviously nuance is impossible on this app but you can think Alonso got it very wrong today and can improve on the season without wanting him out. You were all glazing him after the last 2 games and now he’s a fraud

Lacroix cannot be allowing Tel to cut inside so easily. It's a 2v2 on the last line, he must prevent Tel from making a decisive action and wait for support. Lacroix commits when he really does not need to. Other technical details are also poor like how far he's spaced away from Tel - too close, in my opinion. Again, questions about Lacroix's large space defending.
Lacroix's defensive decision-making and physical characteristics over large spaces is unideal. It can partly be resolved through training and more experience but I think the rest is an inherent drawback (do correct me if I'm wrong with that). I'd break down his weaknesses in decision-making as: (1) positional awareness, (2) body orientation, and (3) inefficient choices on when to press up and drop back to delay. Physically, his agility, footwork, speed of shifting between different body orientations, and pace make him susceptible when tracking back and defending big spaces. I do want to emphasise that many defenders find it difficult because it is just really tough to effectively defend large spaces consistently. There is a certain calibre of elite defenders who can achieve that. I don't think Lacroix gets to that level due to the inherent physical characteristics but there is still room to improve from a decision-making point of view. Below are examples taken from the second half against Brentford where he incorrectly presses up instead of dropping to delay the attack considering the opposition had an overload. Image 2 is his inaccurate decision on jumping out to put pressure rather than tracking the runner.

Don't even rate JP as a 9 esp outside of the box, but the lack of anyone with a basic understanding of the role and enough mobility to be impactful behind him is so appalling
And the issue is we've had this exact issue for 3 years but we keep making the same fucking mistakes

We are not allowed to have 2 good strikers in the club. That's how it works.

So about the shape. I ask people, whats the difference between the shape we played in this last preseason game and now? Only difference was Palestra was LB that was bombing forward instead of Hato or Chavarria

Alex Scott is one of the most valuable deep progressors in the PL b/c unlike players like Wharton & Anderson who attempt hero ball in every pass, Scott has the intelligence & sense of tempo to know when to play forward or not.
Perfect tempo controller for an elite club, similar to Vitinha in the way he reads the game & also most valuable profile beside someone like Caicedo. Imagine Henderson with better passing quality + carrying.
People want bling bling passers, instead the intelligent passers àre the most valuable. Thé player who makes the best decision 9/10 times is more valuable than thé player who makes a wonder pass 5/10 times.

Josh Acheampong finally has a real enough minutes sample to evaluate his performances over the past two seasons.

I know we Chelsea fans give Neto a lot of stick and hold him to a high high standard. We've been spoilt by top level wingers and forwards at Chelsea but I have atill said for the past year that if he was at another fanbase he would be getting one of the best in the league shouts with the numbers he indeed puts up compared to the current wingers in the Premier League.
Already has 4 goals 1 assist in all compa for Chelsea this season

I explained the different rotations Xabi instilled, i explained this particular moment as well. Interesting how Xabi wants his players to move to create space for the team.
Check everything out in my latest analysis on YouTube
Chelsea kept theory first clean sheet of the Premier League season.
I went into detail how Xabi's off ball shape and player application made that happen. The tactics Xabi used to make Chelsea score and the rotations that Xabi is building little by little in possession.
