Mofo lives in Charlotte, ffs, a blue ass city and moved there from a very red part of New Jersey... you can't help but laugh

Mother fucker moved to blue ass Charlotte! I'm howling.
But also. NC isn't deep south, I'm sorry.
Lol I'm sorry, I just think it's funny some of you are cool with granny feeding 50 people as long as she doesn't have to pay for it...
It would be like telling the story of the Rwandan genocide and leaving out the colonial roots of the conflict between the two ethnicities or leaving out the radio broadcasts.
Quite frankly, it flattens the history, bleaches it of its context, makes it effective useless to learn about to act as if nazism wasn't a propaganda perpetuated by, well, nazis and instilled into German society and beyond.
Because personally, no I don't want to be invited to your high speed white people adventures in the woods shit and might actually be offended if you did try to get to me come do some shit you know I disdain.
"Wanna do a 5k on Thanksgiving?"
No.
I'm sorry do you guys actually invite all of your friends to everything you do regardless of their interest, circumstance, ability to come, etc?
And does it actually hurt your feelings to not be offered an invitation to shit you know and they know you don't want to do?
Replying to @neferwillie @SCDC87
No, the fuck it isn't. The courteous thing to do is mention the plan and leave room in the conversation for them to say, actually, I think I could make it work or, yeah, you're right, this isn't something I'd like to do but omg, you're gonna have so much fun!
you know it's not their thing and hey, let's plan a trip to the zoo with the kids when you get back because while I know you can't do this, I value your friendship enough to make plans that you can do as well.
This is how life actually goes.
someone to know well enough to invite btw which means you know them well enough to have heard them complain about invites to shit that require a sitter it's rude AF. It's not rude, however, to talk about a thing you want to do, acknowledge you'd love to invite them but 2/
So you called it a diatribe but didn't bother to read everything I've said?
And etiquette has never demanded you invite everyone to everything you do. It's always centered on conversations, kindness, and care. Inviting someone who doesn't leave their babies 1/

And you resent that shit, call them and ask them if they can contribute or stop inviting them.
But nah, everyone wants to be rude, resentful, and behave like they've got no home training .

I swear everyone is so damned tacky AND allergic to communicating. If you usually host but can't afford it, say so and decline to host this year. If you're concerned about granny's budget, call that lady and ask if you can help. If your cousins always show up empty handed 1/
I really just don't like people anymore.
Like this is such a snotty, obnoxious ask and part of why it was once considered tacky AF to plan and host your own shower. But the answer to that is to comply or don't buy shit.
Quietly donate it or sell it to once upon a child.
I do think certain events, certain relationships change the picture but it's still worth being considerate of the people you want to be there and plan something they can attend if you feel that way about it
Yup and it's perfectly fine if you don't care if your friends with kids come. You shouldn't feel guilty nor should you feel resentful because you went to their baby shower or whatever. Not every event is for every friend, every situation.

You don't know your friends well? You don't know which ones get babysitters and which ones have never spent a night away from their babies?
Replying to @victoriajanell
Bingo!!! If you can't afford to full on host, then get the family/friends in an email and plan a potluck, ask who can kick in, etc. If granny is willing to cook but tight on money, take her shopping or send her some scratch. But we aren't selling tickets ffs
Replying to @MoreOrLessAMess @Flipoutquik
But honestly, there are a lot of ways to do this that don't amount to a cover fee
