New study finds no clear physical advantage for transgender women over cisgender women in sports.
A major review challenges the claim that transgender women hold a clear physical edge in women’s sports.
After pooling results from 52 studies and thousands of participants, researchers in Brazil reported that transgender women had greater lean mass than cisgender women, but not greater physical capacity.
Across the data they examined, they found no meaningful differences in upper-body strength, lower-body strength, or aerobic fitness between the two groups after hormone therapy.
That does not settle the political fight. It does, however, narrow the scientific one.
The paper, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, reviewed research on body composition and physical fitness in transgender people receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy. In their analysis, they covered 6,099 individuals overall. This included 2,566 transgender women, 2,646 transgender men, 442 cisgender women and 445 cisgender men. Forty-two studies were included in the meta-analysis.
Transgender women, the central result was striking in its contrast. Lean mass remained higher than in cisgender women, yet the performance measures most often cited in sports arguments did not show an advantage.
“This refutes the logic behind blanket bans on transgender women in sports,” said Bruno Gualano, a physician and researcher at the University of São Paulo in Brazil who co-authored the study. “Most of these policies are based on the assumption that transgender women retain inherent physical advantages and would therefore dominate women’s competitions. The data does not support this idea.”
The review found that transgender women had higher absolute lean mass than cisgender women, but similar relative lean mass.
It found no significant differences in upper-body strength, lower-body strength, or maximum oxygen consumption, a standard measure of cardiorespiratory fitness.
The authors also looked at how hormone therapy changed the body over time. In transgender women, one year of therapy was associated with increased fat mass, reduced lean mass, and lower upper-body strength. Over one to three years, the pattern pointed in the same direction, though not every measure could be tracked across every time span.
The paper argues that this matters because sports rules often treat muscle mass as a stand-in for performance. The new review suggests that assumption may be too simple.

Fundamentally different. A medical procedure that has a medical basis for terminating a pregnancy isn’t the same as an abortion because you feel like it.
You’re not Catholic if you support abortion. The procedure may be the same but the reasoning isn’t.
Raised Catholic, I was taught abortion was wrong in all circumstances. I became a single-issue voter.
Years later my first pregnancy ended tragically. At 12 weeks there was no heartbeat.
They scheduled a D&C. I was sobbing so hard during the procedure that they stopped and brought my husband in to calm me before trying again. That’s the same procedure used for abortion.
Since Roe fell, women in many states have been denied or delayed that care while doctors fear prosecution.
Abortion saved my life. It allowed me to go on and have three successful pregnancies.
I would never take life-saving care from a woman and her doctor. But if a woman’s faith precludes her from this, I respect her decision. That’s her choice for herself.

Lanterns heavily criticized and the Nielsen scores say otherwise and the shows viewership was shown to be false.
Clayface is also heavily criticized and has no plot and riddled with and then story telling with no redeeming factors at all and still needs to make at least 80 million more before it breaks even.

It hasn't remotely made it's money back. Box office revenue doesn't translate to studio revenue.

This might be the first time in history this guy has had a correct take.
Can we please stop pretending that a movie making its production budget back at the box office means it's already profitable? Because that's not how this shit works.
CLAYFACE opened to roughly $43 MILLION worldwide against a reported $44 million production budget. Sounds great, right? Except $24.5 million of that came domestically, and theaters keep a percentage of ticket sales. Using the standard 50/50 estimate, Warner Bros. would see around $12.25 million. Add in the $19 million overseas, where studios generally receive a smaller percentage, and you're looking at roughly $20 million coming back to the distributor before expenses.
And that's before we even discuss marketing, which wasn't included in the reported budget. The movie also benefited from filming in the UK, where tax incentives can help reduce production costs. But those incentives don't magically mean the film is already profitable.
Now, CLAYFACE could absolutely become a financial success. It's got a manageable budget, positive audience reactions, Halloween coming up, and eventually digital and streaming revenue. There's a legitimate path forward here.
But people declaring victory because the worldwide gross nearly matches the production budget are skipping a pretty important part of the equation.
Box office gross is NOT studio revenue.
And profitability isn't determined by whichever number makes your favorite franchise look better.
The biggest destroyers of art have been the left, look at any modern game studio and tell me anything that they've produced can be called art.

Constitutional law expert Professor Anne Twomey has slammed the scheme as a farce and a form of “grey corruption”, stating: “If federal politicians want to win elections by making promises about swimming pools, golf clubs in their electorates, then they need lessons in integrity.”
This is a deep betrayal of Australian taxpayers.
Funding decisions must be based on merit and community need, not outside party bosses calling the shots to secure votes.

It was by and large one of the worst films I've ever seen. No characters had any motivations, and then story telling through the nose and visual effects that left a lot to be desired.
It's barely a 3/10 for me.
Clayface is a BIG surprise.
I went in basically blind with two buddies I regularly hit Comic-Con with.
None of us watched the trailers.
That absolutely helped.
This movie is wild.
Gruesome.
Disturbing.
At times downright disgusting.
And I mean that in the best way possible.
Tom Rhys Harries is fantastic as Matt Hagen.
The special effects are excellent.
The runtime is under two hours.
And the movie moves.
There’s always something happening.
The biggest surprise?
Clayface barely feels like a James Gunn DCU movie.
It feels much closer to The Batman, The Penguin, Joker and even Gotham.
Matt Reeves’ influence is all over it.
No forced comedy.
No goofy treatment of the character.
No divisive messaging taking over the story.
And most importantly:
Clayface is actually a VILLAIN.
Not an anti-hero.
Not a misunderstood good guy.
The movie lets Matt Hagen become a full-blown psychopath and serial killer.
That’s where Sony went wrong with movies like Morbius and Venom.
Clayface doesn’t make that mistake.
The body horror is nasty.
I actually had to cover my eyes a few times.
And by the ending, we finally get the giant, monstrous, shape-shifting Clayface fans know from the comics and animation.
It looks great.
I had a couple complaints, but nothing major.
This is exactly the kind of DC movie I want more of.
Dark.
Serious.
Comic-book focused.
And willing to let the villain be the villain.
Go see Clayface.

As an autistic person with superhuman pattern recognition and who literally studied the rise of fascism for their entire life, I’m going to hold your hand as I tell you: we have passed all the thresholds - they are coming for all of us. Violently. Camps. Disappearing. All of it. If we have any hope at all, we have to shut this down NOW.
Commies don't realize that the end result of communism is the same as fascism, total control over the individual and fails to understand that the left are the ones who support the extremists at a rate exponentially higher than those on the right.

You lock comments because you know people are going to body you. The games that bioware have released have been a joke in the last decade or so (for the most part)
It has nothing to do with pandering to the mainstream, it's you guys who threaten suicide and self harm the minute someone says that they don't want your kind in games being "represented" I hope that every company that does this fails and goes down the same route. Video games are not a medium for lecturing the masses. They're for escapism and enjoyment.
