On 19 August 2025, we published an article stating that @OliverKamm had deleted a tweet in which he called @zarahsultana an "antisemite". Mr Kamm contacted the Canary to point out that he had, in fact, not deleted the tweet. This madness must stop.
Swedish healthcare must finally be held to account for abandoning patients with complex, serious — and treatable — conditions. Journalists have a crucial role to play in ensuring that this discussion takes place.
A lack of knowledge about complex medical conditions does not tell the whole story. This goes much deeper.
It exposes a profound, systemic absence of empathy, humility, and responsibility toward the very people whose lives healthcare professionals are meant to protect — and whose health they are failing to improve.
To be content with letting someone deteriorate and suffer progressive brain damage at home, when treatment exists, reveals something deeply troubling about the mindset of what is far too many physicians.
