“Generator Economy” is also reforms.
I returned to Lagos Two weeks ago, and there’s been no electricity in my house.
We’re supposedly on band A, yet no light!
even the estate Lister generator is no longer being used. Why is something as basic as electricity still a luxury in Nigeria? I’m honestly tired of this country! What’s the issue? why can’t we just live a good life?

11 years after US-led regime change in Nigeria, what is the scorecard?
Apparently, abysmal.

A Decade of "Change", a Nation Growing Poorer
Eleven years after millions voted for a supposed political transition, Nigeria’s economic reality tells a grim story.
With over 90 million citizens now living in multidimensional poverty and living standards sharply declined, Kangmwa Gofen investigates how foreign-backed economic policies and geopolitical interests continue to shape the nation's trajectory.

The Colonial Clock: Who Designed Africa's Retirement Models?
We talk about colonialism’s obvious legacies in Africa: IMF structural adjustment programmes, debt traps, "aid" tied to economically-crippling policy changes, externally-fueled conflicts and t*rror...
But what about those colonial legacies which we have normalized so much, we barely even notice or question them?
What if we told you that even the age at which you are allowed to retire as an African is just another Western colonial weapon fashioned against you?

I hate that "those people" split us up sha but I love this Francophone Yoruba accent.
I think we Yorubas across nations need to be more connected to ourselves. And I think this is why it is imperative that we use YORUBA tags when we create content, art and music and stop calling our stuff Nigerian or African.
That way we can easily find each other across these arbitrary colonial lines.

The Spearhead Reacts To Kemi Badenoch’s Comments On The Role of Britain in The Transatlantic Slave Trade
British Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch (born Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke) has built a political career out of lending herself to be the convenient black face of right wing British r*cism, who regularly trots out the most r*cially coded and offensive messages on behalf of her patrons, knowing that as someone of recent African heritage, she cannot be punished for doing so.
The most recent installment in her one-woman political ministrel show involved offering a typically shameless and completely unsolicited opinion praising Britain for allegedly stopping the European sl*ve trade, while asserting that Britain has no need to apologise for its role or offer restitution.

Ghanaian Reporter Parrots Western Propaganda About His Own Country, The Spearhead Reacts
This April, Ghana rejected a ridiculous “health deal” offered to it by the US under the so-called “America First Global Health Strategy”. This deal would have seen Ghana hand its sensitive health data, medical records, and national pathogen profiles on a plate to Africa’s single greatest geopolitical enemy. So the Ghanaian government did what any sensible African government would have done.
In this report for The Spearhead, @barrahart reacts to a @dwnews report on Ghana’s decision, hosted by a Ghanaian “journalist” who clearly doesn’t know where his African interests lie.

Important to remember that the writers, show runners, producers, executive producers, network executives, advertisers, TV regulators etc were all white.
Not a single person in this picture had any power whatsoever. These "celebrities" were just wage slaves. They weren't even paid that well. There is a 99% chance that this "joke" was written by a white Jewish guy.

So you've heard about Lula's stunning win in Brazil. But are you aware that another huge country in the Global South had a nearly identical scenario 11 years ago - and made a totally different choice? What was the result there?
gst on Seyi Tinubu:
“From "city boy" messaging to public distribution of rice and relief items, and now visible immersion in youth culture spaces, a consistent pattern emerges: the translation of economic hardship into proximity-based influence. In a country where inflation is above 15%, food costs remain elevated, and over 60% of Nigerians live in poverty, access itself becomes leverage.”

They said African languages were too fragmented, too complex and too commercially insignificant to build advanced AI for.
We disagreed. So we built it.
64 languages. 166 voices. 3 billion parameters. ONE model.
Today, we are unveiling STORM-Ensemble 3.0, the most capable multilingual speech synthesis model we have built at PlotWeaver.
From Yorùbá, Igbo, Hausa and Nigerian Pidgin to Swahili, Amharic, Wolof, Zulu, Xhosa and dozens more, STORM-Ensemble 3.0 generates speech across 64 languages, with 166 distinct speaker voices.
Every voice you hear is generated by our model, not a prerecorded sample.
But the real breakthrough isn't the numbers.
It's what becomes possible when this technology is in the hands of people who can build with it.
-African filmmakers distributing stories across languages.
-Banks and telcos serving customers in their mother tongues.
-Education platforms reaching more children.
-Developers building voice AI products without starting from scratch.
We are not building AI for African languages simply to prove it can be done. We are building the infrastructure to make our languages commercially viable at global scale.
Next week, I will be speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Antigua about unlocking the Commonwealth's creative potential. This launch is a practical demonstration of that ambition.
Africa must not simply consume the future of AI. We must build, own and shape the infrastructure that powers it.
Watch the video. Listen to the voices. Imagine what's possible.
Introducing STORM-Ensemble 3.0.

🔴 New Investigation: The son of an Israeli secret agent, Lyor Cohen is the most important man in hip hop having owned Def Jam music & Roc-A-Fella managing some of the most famous rappers & singers. With inordinate influence over the genre, he has made his views on Israel/Palestine clear, and has used his influence to stamp out what he sees as anti-semitism in the industry.
He is now head of YouTube Music, and is working with the U.S. State Department on a new program directly modeled on the CIA’s successful Cold War-era attempts to use American artists to help force through color revolutions in targeted countries.

Now, add that to the money he would be making looting the DRC, Nigeria, Bolivia, etc.
