1/ Thrilled to share the first work from the Ott lab (@OttTorben), with OpenScope at @AllenInstitute! We focused on how #psilocybin 🍄changes visual processing during active behavior in mice. We combined visual change detection with large-scale Neuropixels recordings in mice.

Mice reaching up for rewards! 🐭💪🏻 Current tasks for assessing motivation may have some extra cognitive demands not purely related to physical effort which may confound result interpretation and outcomes. We´ve developed a task to minimise these confounds: the RED task! 🧵👇

Psychologists have posited hundreds of cognitive biases over the years. A fascinating new paper argues that they all boil down to one of a handful of fundamental beliefs coupled with confirmation bias. doi.org/10.1177/174569162211…

Yesterday a letter from 100 scientists declared the popular theory of consciousness - Integrated Information Theory - is "pseudoscience." And that media about it is "scientific misinformation." The letter is bad. Here's my reply why: theintrinsicperspective.com/…

1/ IIT can and should be critiqued, but this letter, despite many admirable signatories (& colleagues/friends) is disappointing. The accusation of pseudoscience is serious & clickbaity & IMO the letter doesn't justify it psyarxiv.com/zsr78/
