I agree. Pure Divine Mystery becomes almost indistinguishable from Atheism & especially Agnosticism in practice. Which is why a degree of disillusionment or blind faith into its genuine personification is necessary for one to live distinctly from the prior two worldviews.

Honestly I'm not sure how catholics cope with modern bible scholarship. Like, the new testament very clearly has an evolving theology to the point where Jesus wasn't even seen as God in the synoptics.

I feel you. I prayed sincerely every day for years as a Catholic. When they dismiss deconverts as “never having had faith”, it’s only because they don’t want to face the hard reality that their religion is not self-evidently true and that there’s no good in cognitive dissonance.

For me it was the archeological evidence and history of Yahweh, along with the obvious apocalypticism of the New Testament.

I didn’t use intersexuality to show that two modes of male and female don’t exist, but rather that one’s vegetative nature doesn’t determine how one should live. And psychologically, I think identifying oneself as a woman socially and mentally is enough.
