In our case it’s mostly laying communication cables. Phone, cable tv, fiber optic. Very few small contractors are unionized but those that are would the Communication Workers. Over the years we have also done oilfield and general construction work as well.
It means you have worked in whatever trade for long enough to have and execute a viable business plan.

You can start smaller than that but if you see that as an insurmountable barrier then you’re not cut out to be self-employed.
The demographic? What are you talking about? Someone that’s been working as an equipment operator, plumber, electrician, etc that has not been stupid with their finances easily qualifies. We’re talking about middle class here.

A “disaster”?? Iran is more powerful than before?? They control Hormuz?? What has he been smoking.

Yes. My family has been doing dirt work since the 1950s. I know tons of people who have done it. The issue is having the contacts and relationships to stay busy. Leasing equipment is less profitable but it lowers up front capital.

Ever hear of leasing? Assuming you have a track record and decent credit, you can lease all the equipment needed as you need it.

You don’t need a CDL under 26k pounds. My family has been doing cable construction forever. A truck, backhoe, ditch witch, and trailer can be had for $350k - $500k but you can lease it if needed. Insurance on a 3-4 man operation runs about $1500/month. Such an operation can gross $40k a month if you have the contacts to stay busy.

To be fair, it is relatively easy to be self-employed in the trades. The barrier to entry is manageable.

They also have to be different from other existing apps. Reusing a template and just varying the content is an issue too.
Beyond TDD, let them use the app directly. Desktop app computer use is still a bit weak but web apps and mobile app use is amazing

It’s not the nightmare people make it out to be. Don’t be sleazy and have an agent review your submission. Ask Claude to review your app for any issues that might cause a rejection. If you give it access to appstoreconnect, it can even review the metadata.

Not true at all. The most pernicious human bugs look like perfect code. That race condition you have been chasing forever was very well written. lol

Have your agent review the submission. Even faster and far more complete

The library change just put it in the review queue. Once they looked at it they realized it was sleazy.

Do you have a single example of an account that was terminated where the apps were not crap? So far, I have not seen any of these accounts sharing their catalog.

Apple is not in the software business. Demand for their hardware is growing.
