Is there a think piece somewhere about how Billy Evans was kinda hot up until the point when Elizabeth Holmes went to prison and then the second part of the movie he became disgustingly vile looking???

The insidious part of Nicki being a republican puppet is that her chances of actually converting young people & undecided voters to republicans is highly unlikely. Her value lies in republicans using her as a minstrel clown. ‘Look at what we can make desperate black celebs do’
Donald Trump says Nicki Minaj has a “beautiful a**” in Port Huron, Michigan.

Ever since I left Michigan people have given me a lot of flack for how direct, cutting, & (to some) abrasive my speaking style can be but that’s just how we talk where I’m from 😭 so it’s funny that people say Abdul is off putting in the way he speaks naw that’s just how we talk
“Nearly every town hall attendee I spoke to described El-Sayed’s fierce speaking style — which routinely includes cutting down his opponents with harsh language — as a reason they were drawn to him. ‘I like how he’s almost abrasive, like how honest and how raw he is, and the things that he’s honest and raw about,’ Trevana, a 36-year-old customer service professional who lives in Midland, told me.” One of the most fascinating attack lines to watch in the US Senate race, has been the way national operatives have focused on calling out El-Sayed’s brash, combative communication style as if it’s a negative, or somehow out of character for Michigan. The ego is a little unique to a particular type of Michigan millennial, but the sharp tongue and dry sarcasm is very Michigan, and it cuts across a lot of demographics/areas. It’s a personality trait that both El-Sayed and Rogers share, imo (it’s part of why the first debate had the energy it did). Just because voters notice it, doesn’t mean they mind it.

what if there was a type of bourgeoisie that wasn't the big owners of factories. what if there was a type of bourgeoisie under them, a smaller, little bourgeoisie. i wonder what that would be called
Airbnb hosts are melting down over a new policy banning them from making guests complete tasks that “would typically be performed by a cleaner,” like “stripping the bed, taking trash offsite, or washing and putting away dishes.” Read the full story: buff.ly/GHU32S5

I can't get over this photo. It's the kind of thing that would launch a thousand schizo tracts in the 1990s and vindicate countless more in the years following. You'd see it on posters declaring Trump the Antichrist. Maybe the defining image of Trump II?

they should offer two types of screenings for You Can See Everything: one for normal people and one for people who want to performatively laugh at everything that’s humorous or awkward

Ironically most of the gas stations and liquor stores in Detroit are owned by Chaldeans who really have nothing to do with Arabs and would be mad if you called them that
Replying to @samueljrob
Haynes is critical of Arab owned businesses in Detroit: “I know some good Arabs, my issue is with (El-Sayed). He knows what his community has done. They own all the gas stations, now they’re buying soul food restaurants. Everything is in a Black, urban community.”

Elizabeth Holmes is a fascinating character because if you spend time around startup / investor / venture capital / etc type people you quickly realize she was not particularly exceptional or out of the ordinary but she was made an example of to absolve others of the same sins
What always interested me about the Elizabeth Holmes story was not Holmes (fraudsters and psychopaths are a dime a dozen in America, not sure why she needs more attention), but what her success revealed about the political and economic elite: currentaffairs.org/news/2018…

At what point does all this ad spending have diminishing returns like the 50 ads a day someone has seen every day for months at this point hasn’t convinced someone in either direction but upping that to 53 adds a day is what’s gunna push someone over the edge for your candidate ?

it's amazing just how deep the loser bench of this administration goes. just losers all the way down. every idea is a loser. every single choice is a loser. can't do one thing right without fucking it all up, not even move a goddamn globe
They broke Eisenhower’s globe because they didn’t want to wait for a team of specialist historians to move it. I cannot think of a more apt metaphor for Pete Hegseth’s DoD.
