Novel targets in mRCC remain a critical unmet need, especially in the IO-resistance setting.
🎬Watch here as I explain MOAs of the most promising novel targets in early phase testing.
#ESMO26
At #ESMO26, Rahul Winayak, MD (@cityofhope) explains new metastatic #RCC targets—GPR65, HPK1, ENPP3, CD70—that aim to overcome #immunotherapy resistance.

CD70. ENPP3. HPK1. GPR65. All promising targets in #kidneycancer, but what is know about their prognostic/predictive value? Are they enriched in pts with angiogenic or immunogenic profiles? My brilliant @cityofhope postdoctoral fellow @RWinayak takes aim at these questions in his #ESMO26 poster. Do stop by!

Excited to share our #ESMO26 abstract on emerging targets in mRCC. Analysis of 2,134 RCC transcriptomes identified immunogenic (GPR65/HPK1) and angiogenic (ENPP3/CD70) programs linked to improved outcomes with IO vs non-IO therapy, informing future combination strategies.
Thanks @OncLive for a great interview on my #ESMO26 abstract highlighting novel targets in mRCC. Excited to share the latest developments during Sunday's X takeover, including @montypal's presentation of initial Ph1 Xmab819 (ENPP3xCD3) data. 🚀
Thank you to @RWinayak of @cityofhope for sharing insights from research on novel target expressions in renal cell carcinoma, being presented at @myESMO #ESMO26

We're being taken over! During #ESMO26, follow along as #oncology experts take over OncLive's social accounts and share exclusive insights from @myESMO in Madrid.
Stay tuned all meeting for updates from @GhosnMd, @RWinayak, @benweinbergmd, and @maryam_lustberg
Impressed by the innovative work of NCI CP-CTNet at #SWOGFall2026. From Lynch syndrome vaccine trials to AR blockade strategies in NMIBC, these Phase I/II studies are generating critical signals for cancer prevention.
🌟Need to translate these promising findings into Ph3 trials – at Chicago, IL
Wonderful talk by @VanitaNoronha at #IUCS26 on the importance of geriatric assessment in the treatment of elderly patients with cancer.
Intriguing to see the range of ongoing pragmatic trials at @TataMemorial
to optimise and de-escalate treatment for elderly patients with cancer
Fascinating talk by the great @NickSalgia at #IUCS26 on applying the @meeturoIT scoring system to real-world data:
🔬 Group 1 pts show angiogenic TME; higher groups display more immunogenic TME
➡️ MEET-URO 33 is prospectively investigating predictive ability of Meet-URO

Many thanks to @Hoomandjaladat for the invitation to give @USC_Urology Grand Rounds a moment ago. My main message: If we want to get trials done in non-clear cell #kidneycancer, we need to collaborate. Proud to have established (w @siadaneshmand, @TDorffOnc, @AdityaBagrodia, @DrRanaMcKay, @KidneyCancerDoc & others) a network with @uscnorris, @UclaUrology, @UCIrvineHealth, @KPSCalResearch, @hoaghealth, @UCSD, @CedarsSinai & other terrific #SoCal institutions to get GU research done! My closing slide:
RCC variant histologies represent a remarkably diverse group of diseases. An outstanding overview of landmark and ongoing trials in the field by @montypal. Particularly exciting is STELLAR-304, evaluating zanzalitinib plus nivolumab in the frontline nccRCC setting. @_MDEducation – at Winthrop, MA

You are too kind @JCohenMD! It was former @ASCO President @RobinZo41054013 that inspired me to get involved in our state society. It's been an honor to lead @MOASC_Office & it's served as a wonderful vehicle for my youngest mentees!
Dr. Sumanta Paul @montypal continues to have a profound impact on mentoring the next generation of cancer researchers and medical providers. As president of @MOASC_Office his trainees in the photo below are bringing meaningful research to the #SpotlightonOncology2026 with MOASC. Dr. Pal's efforts to train our future cancer doctors will benefit an immeasurable number of patients. @cityofhopeoc @COHMedOnc @cityofhope @ClaytonLauMD

Could not be prouder of @ActuallyGZhang who graduated from @pomonacollege & joined us at @cityofhope as a research associate. Alongside @jadonfann & @DVCastro_, he has worked nonstop to lead a team of undergraduates (with substantial guidance from @ReginaBarCar @charlesbnguyen @NazliDizman et al) to put together this extensive work, characterizing the patterns of #kidneycancer trials in the US. The link between social vulnerability indices & trial availability is a novel one - we need to remedy this somehow.
‼️Our study assessing the availability of 289 #RenalCellCarcinoma clinical trials in the US is out now in @JCOOP_ASCO: ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/OP-… 🎉
Our analysis asked 2️⃣ questions:
•Where are RCC trials in the US?
•Are trials disproportionately absent from certain regions?

We were honored to have @VirajMaster deliver the keynote of our @CityofHope Annual GU Research Symposium to help shape our upcoming clinical trial and correlative biomarker designs.
What better way to thank him than with a Peking duck? 🦆
Early onset RCC exhibits distinct biology, highlighting the need for further research to optimise treatment for this patient population as eloquently shown by @EbrahimiHedyeh at #KCRS26 – at Winthrop, MA

I always enjoy talks from @MikeSerzanMD @DanaFarber who offers an excellent overview of #ASCO26 abstracts at #KCRS26. Excellent overview of radio pharmaceuticals for #kidneycancer incl data from RADICALS (@DrRanaMcKay @UCSDCancer); appreciate the shoutout for LUTEON. Great discussion as well of selection criteria for adjuvant therapy.
Wonderful overview of the role of radiosurgery for brain metastases by @Raj_Singh_MD at #KCRS26. Highly stimulating discussion on the need for personalised therapy to balance upfront systemic therapy with radiosurgery for brain metastases

Incredibly proud of this terrific bunch! I miss @NickSalgia (now at @RoswellPark) & @EbrahimiHedyeh (now at @BIDMC_Medicine) dearly, but proud that they continue to make such waves in the world of #kidneycancer! Join us at #KCRS26 this afternoon to hear @RWinayak's talk, one of my exceptional new fellows who has developed some novel clinical biomarkers of IO benefit. @DrChoueiri @HHammersMD @DrRanaMcKay @DrRaviSalgia @neerajaiims @katy_beckermann @VivekSubbiah @PGrivasMDPhD @OncoAlert
It’s becoming a recurring theme for @CityofHope fellows (and alumni) of the @MontyPal team to need extra luggage to bring home all the awards from #KCRS26. Congrats @RWinayak @NickSalgia and @EbrahimiHedyeh!!

Mind blowing 🤯 talk from #DrBertrandRouty @UMontreal on the #microbiome in #kidneycancer & beyond. Beautiful data in @Nature & @NatureMedicine very recently showing (convincingly) the impact of diet on therapeutic outcomes! Could Lactobacillus johnsonii be a key mediator? An obesogenic diet? Need more studies!
