Most of the math stuff y'all get from @TPT_Official (Teachers Pay Teachers) is not standards aligned and definitely doesn’t align with your core curriculum materials. Save your time and use vetted materials.

ED-JOY: Oh the delight that filled my heart when I received my personal copy today!!! One of my dreams is to one day be an author of professional texts that equip and inspire educators to advance student learning. Well, today, I celebrate my FIRST entry into The Reading League Journal.
In this piece, I highlight the importance of Oral Language, Vocabulary, and Background Knowledge in advancing student achievement in our MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS!!!
My favorite quote from this piece (yes, I can celebrate ME lol): “We must not create a learning environment that inhibits the use of students’ home language but rather engages students in learning activities in which they see the connection between their language and the new language. It is through determining the distinct features between the two languages that students internalize critical aspects of the new language.”

It’s a myth that the folks who refuse to use the provided curriculum materials are the master teachers whose teaching would be tainted if they were forced to use a script. In my experience it’s the TPT folks who don’t want to be bothered with teaching anything systematically.

Adult expectations for some children are lower because of class, trauma, race, family.
It must be the opposite.
Children can, must, and need to be fully literate... ESPECIALLY if their road is tough; they must have skills, focus, and grit.
Don't just feel for them. Teach them.

Families shouldn’t be texting their children during the school day. Children need to be focused during instructional time.
If it is a rare emergency, you probably shouldn’t text them, and instead pick them up or contact the school directly.
Stop intentionally distracting them.
