Hey @TimSweeneyEpic, many people have questions and concerns about the future of UE6 with the recent news. Would you be willing to do an interview to help give indies and studios of all sizes some clarity and answers so we can all start planning for the years ahead?

While disappointing to get rid of the gameplay framework, it's only the framework like Actors, Pawns, from my understanding. The engine itself remains C++ and you can still choose to build your entire game in C++ with flavors of Verse (much like you can with BP), or so is my hope. Actors specifically getting replaced by more efficient alternatives (Scene Graph, Mass, ...) has some benefits although it will be a painful transition I imagine for many.
I expect many studios to continue on UE5 well into UE6's lifecycle until it's viable and meaningful to upgrade (much like only the bravest of souls would dare to go into production using UE 5.0 some years ago). There is a huge cost involved in retraining your entire studio for Verse, and converting existing custom game frameworks (the vibe-converters are just an idea at this point).
I would love for @TimSweeneyEpic to share more info on the future of C++ and Verse. Like what's happening to GAS, State Trees, and other systems. What part of games will remain in C++, and where does Verse become a necessity by the engine's design? Would someone still build an inventory system or underlying ability framework in C++, or any part of the game's internals, or is that all Verse's domain?
As for a timeline... End of 2027 is UE6 early access, that will likely take 12-18 months for UE 6.0 full release, late 2028 or mid 2029 even. Before studios have transitioned over, we might be looking late 2029 or well into 2030. (and existing games would need to finish production on UE5 first)
Verse isn't ready yet, so you can either start/continue building with C++ now, or wait around and do nothing but UEFN until then.
