ELECTION ALERT IN THE RACE FOR GOVERNOR OF TEXAS Two hundred eighty-one million dollars. That is what the sitting governor's campaign has spent on this race, nearly eight times the spending of the other name printed on the ballot, according to campaign finance filings. Now follow the money. On October 21 in Richmond he promised his plan would "slash the average Texas homeowner's property taxes by $3,000." On October 29 in West El Paso he promised a fourth term would "completely eliminate" school property taxes on your homestead. He has held the office since January 2015, and under him property tax revenue in Texas is up 85 percent. The total tax burden on each Texan is up roughly 60 percent, and property taxes are the largest piece of it. $281 million buys a lot of airtime and a lot of mail. What it has not bought is a tax bill that went down. The Constitution Party of Texas endorses Jenn Mack for Governor. Attendees reported the room was cold when she started and on its feet at the end, with several people going to her afterward to say they had their votes. She opened by telling them she expected to offend them. "I'm known to be a bit offensive, not because I don't care, but because I love Texas and I'm afraid we're about to lose it." "A tax burden that, by any honest measure, should have already started a revolt by now." The tax burden per person in Texas has risen 60 percent or more under Greg Abbott. "For those who wonder why I don't try again in four years, because Agenda 2030 is three years and three months away." "Cartels and terrorists operate inside of our communities. I came in from Uvalde, was there about 20 years, and I'm telling you that they do." "We have mosques that are becoming more of the storehouses that God tells our church to become by storing up the beans, bullets, the Band-Aids.
