Best book I read in 2025 by a margin. The history of economic thought isn't part of the standard curriculum, so this was overdue. Keynes' wayward life as a public intellectual was fascinating as well — the smartest person that nobody listened to.

The death of philosopher Helen De Cruz leaves a gaping hole--in the world of philosophy but most of all in the life of her family. It's heartbreaking to see Helen's children left without her. Please consider donating or sharing their story. Every bit helps. Thank you. gofund.me/c8f26900e

Taylor Swift dazzlingly shows how our idols’ humanity is reduced and replaceable, but our icons help us recognize that love is what binds us and makes life meaningful. #TaylorSwift READ: tinyurl.com/SwftIdlsIcns

Simone Weil has so much to tell us about humanity's contemporary and historical issues with roots, exile, and migration. This is an incredible time to read and think with Weil and a group of engaged scholars. Submit your abstract to our colloquy by Sept. 30.

Imagine someone saying: "A parent is someone who biologically produced a child. Someone who adopts a child is not a parent." We can use words how we want & can choose to use "parent" in a more or less inclusive way. Likewise, how we choose to use the word "woman" is up to us.

new piece in the great @hexliterary today! It’s called “Gordon Lish.” Raymond Carver’s in it, too. Here’s the photo of him mentioned in the story— not a dude you want to mess with! hexliterary.com/?p=2608

Please read Brian Gibbs’ moving testimony and lament over being “terminated” yesterday from the National Park Service, putting a human face on the heartbreak and crisis thousands of government public servants are undergoing right now due to Trump and Musk’s draconian purges:
From Brian Gibbs, a now former exemplary national park ranger.

“Nikki-Rosa” by Nikki Giovanni. I can’t tell you how many times I read this poem by her.

1. What is the essence of religion for Latour? The answer = "reprise", the taking up again of a tradition and making it new in the present day, so that it gathers a people again, holding open the possibility that the world can "go on".

Ryan Wesley Routh has 100+ arrests for gun violence, assault, domestic violence, and assaulting police officers, but thanks to the lax gun laws in Florida, he was able to fly from Hawaii & purchase an AK47, no questions asked. This is on @RonDeSantis, @FloridaGOP & @NRA.
