Southwest Airlines debuts a special new livery aircraft in honor of America's 250th birthday: Independence One, registration N1776R. Perhaps most eye-catching: "Red, white, and blue paint scheme with 1776 written in giant quill script, and the key phrase, 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' from the Declaration of Independence and the three inalienable rights endowed to all humans," the airline says. Russia has just targeted another commercial vessel off the coast of Bulgaria, inside the country's Exclusive Economic Zone. Container ship CONTSHIP JET (IMO 9348625) was targeted approximately 21 nautical miles off Shabla, near Cape Kaliakra and was traveling from Israel to Romania. Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov has confirmed the incident, while maritime outlet Masays says the crew is now evacuating aboard life rafts. This is the 9th ship targeted in the past several weeks in the waters if Romania and Bulgaria. The extent of the damage and the condition of the crew remain unclear.

UPDATE: 🇧🇬 Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev says the suspects behind the October 9 arson attack on Starlink satellite communications antennas in Bulgaria were identified within hours and later arrested in Germany. 🇷🇴 This comes amid reports that suspects in a separate attempted sabotage case targeting a Romanian weapons factory were also arrested in Germany. It remains unclear whether the two cases involve the same individuals.
NEW: 🇧🇬 11 of 17 Starlink antennas were deliberately set on fire by two masked individuals at a secure site near Sofia, Bulgaria.

Witkoff tried to convince Budanov of how rich he could be if he sold out his country by allowing Russian pipelines to again flow through Ukraine. Budanov ended the meeting.
Content of Tense Conversation Between Budanov and Trump's Team Revealed Negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation and Donald Trump's special envoys in Miami, as reported by Le Monde, escalated into a conflict. According to the publication, during a three-hour meeting at the Shell Bay golf club, Steve Witkoff "with irritation" demanded that Kyrylo Budanov, head of Zelenskyy's office, cease strikes on Russian oil refineries. Budanov, per Le Monde's information, "barely contained his anger" and felt that he was being "treated like a child, trying to teach him how to make money." The Americans presented an ambitious plan for postwar "regional prosperity," which envisioned resuming the transit of Russian oil and gas to Europe through Ukraine, with dividends paid to Kyiv. Budanov was outraged that such a deal would tie Ukraine to Moscow, after which the negotiations broke off. When the meeting resumed, the Americans proposed accepting a deal for supplies of Russian diesel to the United States. The publication's sources noted that they had never seen Ukrainians "so upset and alarmed." Zelenskyy's entourage described the situation as "hopeless," since Trump's envoys "think only about business." 📸: Press service of the President of Ukraine

russians saw the word “EVACUATION” on the vehicle. They attacked it anyway. Kramatorsk. A russian drone struck an evacuation vehicle, tearing off one of the driver’s legs. He is now in hospital. Even those trying to save lives are not spared. How many more atrocities will it take before the world finally acts? Sadly, I know the answer. Nothing will change. russia will keep committing crimes against humanity, and the world will keep looking away. Maybe until it happens to you.

I spoke with a spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defence regarding the " unusual deployment of three Royal Navy nuclear-armed submarines, they provided the following statement: "Our nuclear deterrent is the cornerstone of our national security, protecting the UK and our NATO allies every moment of every day. We remain the only European ally to commit its nuclear deterrent to the defence of NATO. This means that all NATO Allies already benefit from the protection of our nuclear deterrent." Specifically, I had asked for an explanation regarding this unusual activity, explicitly inquiring whether it was routine or merely sea trials, but they did not confirm this. Instead, they spoke primarily of a "NATO defence mission and nuclear deterrence," which suggests that the movement may have been prompted by an external threat.

Data Republican’s past work in Ukraine for a company started by “the Bill Gates of the Urals,” serial entrepreneur, software engineer, and ACM ICPC veteran, recruiter, and sponsor from St. Petersburg whose past business co-founders have ties to YANDEX. 🇷🇺 in 🇺🇦 SNAP INC & LOOKSERY Jennica Pounds (@DataRepublican) managed Snap Inc.’s large “Ukrainian engineering team” (from the 2015 Looksery app acquisition that was developed in Odessa and SOCHI 🇷🇺) as Principal Software Engineer and Director of Software Engineering in Snap Lab. CEO Evan Spiegel arranged private extraction contractors to help “evacuate team members” during the 2022 invasion. Shaburov sold Looksery to Snap Inc. (owner of Snapchat) for $150M . About 25% of shares went to the company’s top managers and technical team for startups. Shaburov became a Snap Inc. co-owner (Pounds worked for in Odessa) via shares. Looksery was removed from app stores; its features integrated into Snapchat. 🇷🇺 VICTOR SHABUROV Looksery’s real-time face-tracking technology (foundation of Snapchat Lenses) was co-founded by Russian-born Victor Shaburov (b. 1977, Yekaterinburg). Victor Shaburov won several Math Olympiads in school and later the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). He attended the Specialized Educational and Research Center of Ural State University (now SESC of Ural Federal University), then transferred to St. Petersburg State University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics (MatMech), graduating with honors in 1999. —> Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev - Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St Petersburg University. In 2016, twice ICPC world champion and Roem.ru founder Yuri Sinodov congratulated his colleagues: “The sponsors of the St. Petersburg University team are Kontakte and Viktor Shaburov (Everyone knows about the Kontakte Olympiad participants, and Victor has already sponsored one team, which became the backbone of the Looksery project, bought by Snapchat last year for $150M).” Shaburov today remains heavily invested in sponsoring AMC ICPC Olympiads via Botan Investments, spending about $200K annually. 🧮Victor Shaburov uses the AMC ICPC Olympiads to recruit talent for his startups: ▶️St. Petersburg State University (SPbU) is a frequent ICPC winner—where Shaburov met his SPB business partner Filippov in 1999. ▶️Alexander Mashrabov and Grigory Tkachenko (both 🇷🇺 Russian)— previously at YANDEX, started AI Factory based in Sochi, which was also sold to Snap Inc in 2019. ▶️Yuri Monastyrshin 🇺🇦 recruited by Shaburov in 2014, after holding 2 open programming competitions at the Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University. 🇷🇺 SPB Software House - YANDEX Shell In 1999 in St. Petersburg, Victor Shaburov co-founded SPB Software House on Rubinshteina Street with Vasily Filippov, who competed for the SPbU team at the 1999 ACM-ICPC World Finals. YANDEX acquired SPB Software in November 2011 for approximately $38.4M (retention incentives for founders to stay 1–2 years). Named SPB founders who continued at Yandex: 🇩🇪 Sebastian-Justus Schmidt — SPB CEO. Appointed EVP Mobile and General Manager at Yandex. 🇷🇺 Vasily Filippov — SPB COO. Headed mobile distribution/related roles at Yandex before founding MEL Science. 🇷🇺 Yaroslav Goncharov — SPB CTO. Remained at Yandex until around 2013; later founded FaceApp. 🇷🇺 Olga Steidl — SPB CMO/VP. Confirmed founders would continue at Yandex. Yandex leadership at acquisition: 🇷🇺 Arkady Volozh — CEO and co-founder (announced the deal, citing mobile as key growth strategy). 🇷🇺 Ilya Segalovich — co-founder (with Volozh). Shaburov’s later path included a company (acquired by Opera Software), Looksery (~$150M Snap exit), AI Factory (acquired by Snap for Cameos), engineering leadership at Snap, and investing via Botan Investments. Shaburov lives in Gibraltar 🇬🇮 and holds a Cypriot 🇨🇾 nationality. @BiggerTruth @Restitutor_
I actually managed a Ukrainian team at the time of the Russian invasion. The cost was real and Evan hired paramilitary forces to rescue his employees. I will never, ever forgive Putin for the human cost he created. That said, there’s zero realistic path to victory that doesn’t involve pulling the US in a real risk of nuclear war. And there are a lot of interests invested in making sure Ukraine remains a meat grinder so they themselves don’t have to confront Russian costs. I wish more Ukrainians would realize that.

Putin's plan in Ukraine and wider Europe isn't about either of these places, but about America, still Putin's main life grudge. But taking down the U.S first requires eliminating Europe as an obstacle, and Europe can't be dealt with until the fortified areas of Donbass are bypassed by Russian forces. Forcing America to hand over Europe's Great Wall is now the main goal of the Russian occupied White House. With each successive step, the key to all the Kremlin's aims is in keeping the US on the sideline, through propaganda, threats or corrupting leadership.

“Her legs were torn off, she was ripped to pieces.” A Russian drone killed 84-year-old woman Grandma Lora in Kherson as she was walking her goats, The New York Post reports. In a September interview, Lora said: “Everyone is afraid, but everyone still has hope.” Larisa Myronivna Vakulyuk, 84, known as Grandma Lora, died instantly when a Russian FPV drone struck her and her two goats in the Antonivskyi district of Kherson. Journalist Zarina Zabrisky, who had interviewed Vakulyuk a month earlier, described the aftermath: “Her legs were torn off, she was ripped to pieces. In my three and a half years covering this war, I have seen many deaths, but this was one of the hardest to witness.” Volunteer Andrii Petukhov found her remains alongside the dead goats, confirming that she died instantly and that the strike occurred during her morning walk. In her September interview, Vakulyuk said: “Everyone is afraid, but everyone still has hope,” capturing both fear and resilience amid the shelling of Kherson. The attack was one of several that day, which also injured four civilians and damaged homes, schools, and residential buildings across the city. Ukrainian and human rights groups call Kherson a “human safari zone” — an area where Russian drones and artillery deliberately hunt civilians. In July, outrage followed reports that a one-year-old boy was killed by a Russian drone while playing outside, showing how Moscow’s “human safari” now claims victims from infants to the elderly. Nearly 150 civilians were killed during the summer bombardments of Kherson in 2024, and hundreds more were injured. Russia continues to intensify daily drone strikes on populated areas. NEW | 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 Ukraine's military intelligence says Russia plans to offer five African countries simplified port access for its warships and support vessels during the Russia–Africa summit in Moscow on October 28–29. The countries named are Cameroon, the Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Nigeria and Togo. Such agreements could make Russian naval visits and resupply easier to arrange but they wouldn't automatically give Moscow permanent bases.

Today is Navy Day! First celebrated on 27 October 1922, the observance brought ships, aircraft, and sailors into communities across the country to connect Americans with their Navy. The date honored Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday and his advocacy for American sea power. But how did Navy Day begin—and who was really behind it? Historian Ryan Wadle explores the little-known partnership between Navy leaders and the Navy League that launched the nationwide celebration. We might find out in a few years that Trump 2.0 was by far the most corrupt Administration in American history. It isn’t just stories like this one. It was also the obvious playing of games with oil futures and prediction markets during the first few months of the Iran war. And also the people who made fortunes on insider trading just before announcements relating to tariffs and trade wars. And God knows what else. And I haven’t even mentioned the Jared Kushner rumors, but only because these types of extraordinary claims still require extraordinary evidence.
If, for the sake of argument, you were a member of the president's family or one of their Middle Eastern business partners looking for easy money from Russian "investors," this is the Russian entity you'd need to exempt from US sanctions.

Turns out Western Star Resources also sponsored Patrick Lancaster, who is supporting the Russian war effort against Ukraine and previously had a channel on Alex Jones’s banned[.]video. Lancaster was part of the Russian press team present at the interrogation of Aiden Aslin after Aslin’s Russian captor stabbed and beat him. I think it is safe to say, at this point, that we have a legitimate U.S. counterintelligence concern that warrants further investigation. Current team on the story: @ryanmauro @Restitutor_ @eyepatch_man @RS613506 with @hpmcd1 in reserve, waiting to see if this story is worthy of reporting in The Scroll.
