People in LA after weeks of heat waves and running their ACs non-stop finally sleeping with their window open listening to the rain and police sirens:

Maybe I only find this interesting but the Jags call timeout just before the snap and CJ Stroud still throws it to Foster Moreau and he casually catches the ball with one hand.
And then they run the real play after the timeout...
This is why there shouldn’t be a 24-team playoff. You can’t have fringe teams like Texas sneaking in.

The Color of Money (40 today) gave rise to two absolute classics.
Tom Cruise’s “Doom” line inspired the iconic video game title, and Martin Scorsese began reading Nicholas Pileggi’s Wiseguy during downtime; later adapted into Goodfellas.
I was obsessed with this film.

My dream Gen X retirement community isn't a golf course or a luxury resort.
It's a fully renovated 80s/90s shopping mall.
Half the building is apartments. The other half looks exactly like the mall we grew up in.
The Waldenbooks is now a massive library where you can spend hours getting lost in books.
The food court is part of your meal plan, so you can grab an Orange Julius, a slice of pizza, Chinese food, or sit down for a proper meal at Shoney's whenever you want.
The movie theater plays classics every night.
The arcade is free and packed with Pac-Man, Galaga, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong, and every cabinet game we spent our allowance on.
Sam Goody is still there. You can browse CDs, listen to Bowie, The Ramones, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, or whatever you love. They even host monthly dance nights for anyone who still remembers MTV when it actually played music.
The Sharper Image has massage chairs you can reserve whenever your back reminds you that you're no longer 25.
The pharmacy is still an Eckerds.
Blockbuster is fully operational. You can rent movies, video games, and spend 30 minutes wandering the aisles before choosing something you'll probably fall asleep watching.
There's an aerobics studio offering Tae-Bo, Richard Simmons, MTV's The Grind workouts, and every fitness craze we survived the first time around.
There are fountains everywhere, a lazy river because we've earned it, and plenty of benches where people can sit and talk instead of staring at their phones.
Every morning we go mall walking before the stores "open."
Every evening we meet friends at the food court.
No algorithms. No endless scrolling. No influencers.
Just books, music, movies, arcades, friends, nostalgia, and the feeling that for a few hours, it's 1995 again.
Honestly, I'd put my name on the waiting list today.

40 years ago today, Jim Deshaies set a MLB record by striking out the first eight batters in a game. That was the first of three consecutive dominant games of pitching by the Astros, capped by Mike Scott's no-hitter.
