Tomorrow, Africa makes financial history 📌
Credit ratings shape investor perceptions of risk, access to international capital and ultimately the cost at which African governments and businesses borrow.
For years, the @APRMorg has worked to change Africa’s position in this system. Mandated by the African Union @_AfricanUnion the APRM led the complex process of establishing the Africa Credit Rating Agency #AfCRA by developing the legal, financial, governance and institutional architecture required to bring the institution to life.
Speaking at the 2nd Africa Annual Conference on Credit Ratings in Port Louis #Mauritius 🇲🇺, APRM CEO @APRM_MarieRose highlighted a striking paradox: African institutions collectively hold an estimated US$4 trillion in domestic capital, yet the continent still faces major development-financing gaps.
AfCRA is part of the answer. It will provide independent, Africa-focused credit assessments, strengthen market intelligence, address information asymmetries and support deeper African capital markets.
📌 Tommorow 7 October 2026 AfCRA will officially launch in Mauritius its primary jurisdiction and headquarters bringing together African leaders, AU institutions, investors and financial-market actors.
This is a significant achievement for all Africans and a step towards achieving #Agenda2063. From an idea to an institution. From dependency towards greater financial sovereignty.
Africa is not simply demanding reform of the global financial architecture. Africa is building alternatives.
