People that say this don't write or have writer friends. Mind maps and flow charts? LOL!
It is not difficult to prove a writer used AI or not. Anyone who has done the difficult work without use of AI will have evidence - scrap books, drafts, notes, mind maps, flowcharts, photos, videos, etc. The fact that little to no effort is used by publications like The Atlantic to verify these and other claims is telling. Anyone who is accused thus can have a goldmine of evidence to produce in a rebuttal.

kind of a perfect display of the issue with using “AI” as this undifferentiated amalgam of very different technologies imo
The writer for The Atlantic also openly admitted to feeding 25 years’ worth of Caine Prize essays into AI. Is that allowed?

We are not going to check homework and PTA meeting our way to high quality education for all. We’re not. Yes, those things are necessary but not sufficient. The myopic focus on them as solutions is making it hard for me to unwind this Sunday 😅

I want my kid to flourish as well. I want to navigate this system as best as I can for them. I want them to have tutors/ take extra classes. I want to invest time, effort, money in their education But I will never support public schools being defunded for magnet/private/voucher

My twins went pre-k thru 12 in minority-majority Brooklyn public schools; they’re now seniors at Cornell and Hunter. I did time in the PTA trenches at two schools, serving as grade rep and president at Brooklyn Tech. The issues surrounding inequities in NYC DOE are crazy-complex.

there aren’t any simple takeaways from the nikole hannah jones essay which ofc is why every single annoying person with an axe to grind is using it as evidence they were right about their pet issue all along

Everyone wants *their* child to go to a good school but nobody wants to do the hard work of making sure that *every* child goes to a good school. You cannot be a champion for education and be against public education. We are the public.

I'm the graduating kid on the nanny's phone! In her 33 years in the US, my mom has raised the kids of company execs, professors, doctors, lawyers... Mi mami is the best of the best. I'm so proud of the American Dream she and my dad have built for themselves — and for me.

PSA: If Terry makes $90k, Taylor makes $60k, and childcare costs $50k, it is NOT “Childcare was going to eat up most of Taylor’s salary anyway,” it IS “Childcare eats up 1/3 of our household income, ugh this sucks” Then proceed from there

My kids are adults so I don't even have a dog in this hunt now. But for some time now I have noticed a shift in the discourse from "I don't want kids" to "I don't want kids in public spaces" and I know people think it's personal but it's really systemic & fascist

The reason it's annoying when non-parents give parenting advice here is because they think they're offering valuable insight from remembering what it's like to be a kid, but not only do parents know what it's like to be a kid, they also know what it's like to be a parent.

babies in public spaces are fine! babies are just little dudes who don't know what's going on so they sometimes they cause a ruckus. a large percentage of grown adults do know what's going on and cause a ruckus anyway, and that's much worse, because they are large

lol “I am once again….” is common phrasing On Here, not a formalized request. She didn’t even tag her city. I am once again begging people to let moms vent on social media without demanding to know a line item budget for what is ultimately an expression of frustration.

We recommend avoiding the vague jargon officer-involved or police-involved. Be specific about what happened. If police use the term, ask for detail. How was the officer or officers involved? Who did the shooting? If the information is not available or not provided, say so.
