Beijing is furious that 4 Rivers 6 Ranges is bringing the story of Tibet’s resistance to Indian cinemas.
The film tells the story of Chushi Gangdruk, the Tibetan guerrilla resistance movement that fought against the PLA invasion and helped protect Tibetans, including during His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s escape to India in 1959.
Instead of confronting this history, CCP state media calls the film “fiction” and attacks its Tibetan filmmaker, Shenpenn Khymsar.
For decades, Beijing has tried to erase the history of Tibetan resistance, sacrifice and survival. Now a filmmaker is putting that history on the big screen.
If the CCP is so confident in its version of history, why is it so afraid of a film?
